Yes!!!
In fact, your actions resulted in a perfect fix, it is actually better now than it was before!!!
I appreciate your time & laudable efforts of locating me, sneaking up here (past 2 guard dogs) and repairing it while we were at work. And just 2 hours before the local plumbing company was to send its plumber (and of course I would suspect the young he/she has never seen one of these let alone figure out a problem)
I'm not kidding-- either you did it or it fixed itself which I know is not possible!
We took it "apart" slightly to change the leathers & it wouldn't go back down. Afraid it would all "fall down the casing" so pulled up on the innards & locked it in place w/ clamps. Changed out the gaskets, then it was stuck "up". In the 2 weeks before the plumber could come, it went back down the morning that s/he was to come.
Ordered the "installing a well pump" video from Lehman's (some of the best $20 we've ever spent) while awaiting the plumber. Discovered that the "innards" would not fall down the hole, and figured that the "up" pulling did some damage to the cylinder somehow. And, it wanted to rotate some, so that we couldn't fasten the bolts again without force-twisting a little. So it sat outside, waiting for a miracle plumber (or mystery plumber like you) to arrive. And you did!!!
Thank you!!
