Been looking around for a (very stock, no frills) G17 gen 4 but they've been notably hard to find. Though just about everywhere I still see G17 gen 3s. For that matter, I've been hard pressed to find many gen 4 Glocks period. Are they being discontinued or something?

Guess I need to start shopping for a gen4 21. I don't see the gen5 anything as an improvement. Finish is durable enough. Gun is accurate enough, more accurate than I am, anyway. Like the finger grooves. Firing pin and trigger improvements? I have no complaints about my G21g4. I like it. Well, OK, I would like it if they made the ammo cheaper.

Your best bet would be some police trade ins from places like Aim Surplus

Glock is only supporting LE sales on Gen 4 which most parts from Gen 3 will keep them running

As far as Gen 3 4 or 5 which is better is moot. You like 4’s cool for me the 5’s have a slightly easier time with no S soring to worry about in the trigger bar. Not that a Gen 3 or 4 was labor intensive to keep up but I like my Gen 5 to the point I sold of what couple Gen 4’s I have but mostly because I like M&P HK and Sig 220 series better

    Good luck!

Last time I was in USDS in Greenwood they had a number of G21 police trade ins. I'm pretty sure there were some Gen 4s in the mix.

Been a while since I've been told that! Lol

I remember when the Gen 4 first came out the fan boys weren't big fans so there was a run on Gen 3 for fear they wouldn't be avaliable anymore. I haven't really been a big Glock person since I got the "CZickness". It was something with rhe triggers and finish if I can remember correctly. The backstraps were hotly debated. I like my Gen 3s and the only Gen 4 I have is the Model 40 which I could see the dislike for the backstraps. It just feels cheaper in my opinion when the backstraps are used.

Just got an email from Recoil Gunworks advertising G17 gen4 LEO trade-ins for $390 - 410, depending on condition.

    I love the gen 4. I love the finger grooves. I have a 17, 17 MOS, and 23.

There’s a bunch on gunbroker for reasonable, variety of models. Several G17s for around $400.
