I'm told it cost between $1,000 & $1,100 when bought new.

A friend of mine needs to sell it and he doesn't have any use for it anyway.

He wanted to know if I wanted it but I just can't warm up to the AKs.

The ZPAP M70 is considered among the better of the current generation of sporting purpose clause imports. Still selling in the $1000 to $1100 range.

Nice AKM variant, and a good one for either someone's first or someone who likes having more than one.

On the other hand, if you can't warm up to the Kalashnikov rifle, this is one you could hold on to and sell in the future to help a friend out, or just pass.

    As to having any use for a firearm, really? :D :D :D :D :D

I looked up on gun broker and it appears they're all selling in the $1,050 range new.
I'll have to see how much he has to have out of it or how much he's willing to sell it for. Heck he's never even bought any ammo for it.
If the price is right I may go ahead buy it just for the heck of it.
    He's a good close friend.

Are you sure the box matches the rifle? I could be wrong but the handguard does not look like the Yugo style (three hole) from the M70.

Yes, I would look the rifle over carefully for it's markings. It does appear to be a 5.45x39 AK74 style rather than a 7.62x39 AMK style. Appears to have a 90 degree gas block normally found on the 5.45.

Well I will have to admit the gun in the picture that you sent has markings and numbers on it.
    This one here has nothing.
I will definitely check it out and see what's going on.
I actually have no experience with AK's at all.

What is the best version of AK-47?

The best known of these is, of course, the Israeli Galil. Not so well known here in the US though are the Finnish military variants that actually served as the foundation for the Galil. Of these, the 7.62x39mm Rynnakkokivaari 95 TP is without a doubt the best of the breed.

Just a quick search, not based on my own experience.

That's not a Zpap, this is what should be in that box. Note the three hole handguard. So, the value on what you DO actually have isn't the same, and I'm not an expert on that
I think yours has the buldged front trunion, also his looks to have bayo lug not ground down. Maybe older one?

Okay! Here's the skinny. The gun in the plastic foam filled case in the picture is not the gun that he has for sale, he already sold that one.
He doesn't know the difference between them, they're just AK's to him.
Anyway, he does have the gun that came in that box with the label on it, it is Zastava m70, he doesn't remember where he got the other picture from.
So anyways, I went to my favorite local gun store and they had a good used one for sale for $1,179 plus tax.

I asked him how much he wanted for it so I would know how to deal with it and he said as much as he could get because he needs the money and I told him that doesn't help me a bit because I have to know what he would accept if someone made an offer.

At that price I certainly do not want it, so it is up for sale to anyone who does.
So I will probably have to redo the ad in the for sale section.
I am just trying to help my friend out but I'm quickly getting tired of it.

No fun being in the middle, looked up the sku number and it seems to be the walnut model buds and sportsmans warehouse has for just under $1000 plus tax.

It does not look like a zpap. If he got it as a used firearm from a gun store, my guess is that it didn't have a box and they just used a box laying around, and put it in there for him to take home.

It indeed does look like some type of AK74 if that's the mag for in the picture.
Ak47 mags are more curved than AK74 mags. It's a quick identifier I use for ak platforms, and once you see it, you'll always see it.
