What to do in St. Louis? (Kid friendly)

We took the kids to St. Louis over spring break this year. We did the arch, the science museum, the city museum, and the zoo. The city museum was the kids favorite thing to do. Be prepared for lots of climbing and tight confined spaces at the city museum.

      starling

Over the weekend I watched two starlings chase off a red-headed woodpecker that had been hanging around. I have no problem letting my son kill as many as he wants.

Starlings are a host to many diseases that can be spread to humans, including West Nile. I would not want to take the chance.

What do do about a sink hole?

They probably won't dig around the electrical box to find the problem. Anything within a couple of feet of power, gas, or water I will hydro excavate. Our department has a Vaccon (basically a large truck with high pressure water and a "vacuum" hose) to blast high pressure water and suck the...

What do do about a sink hole?

That would be a good place to start. Our DPW is sewer/MS4 and is seperate from streets. They should be able to determine if its a problem with a storm or sewer.

What do do about a sink hole?

Contact your local Street or MS4 department. My money is on a problem with a storm or sewer tile. I work for a municipality and deal with fixing these daily. I had this exact problem come up a couple of years ago. There was a seperation in the sections of tile allowing the dirt to wash in. I...

      Best Knot(s) to Know

For climbing, the Prusik hitch or the Blake's hitch with a figure-8. For rigging the Bowline or Running Bowline, Girth hitch, Clove hitch, and the Slip Knot. During the Warmer months we do a lot of tree removals. The majority of the time a type of Bowline is used ( running bowline, double...

      Painting Metal, Proper Process?

What kind of clear are you using? Is it out of a spray can or is it mixable automotive clear in a qt/gal can? Mixable clear requires a hardner to cure correctly. If it's out of a can, the heat and humidity could cause it to fell tacky for longer periods.

That would be the list in the link that I posted above, correct?

      M1009 CUCV...thoughts?

Stick with 33" or smaller tires, don't get to adventurous with the trails you might run, and try not to put the suspension/tires in a bind, then your stock running gear should be fine. I would look bracing the frame around the steering box (offroad design carries a kit), they are prone to...
