I need to visit the statehouse again. I haven't been since I was an elementary school kid..1 in 130, one in the area outside that has the couch you can’t get out of.
Buttons and switches? That sounds fun for an adult too!I need to visit the statehouse again. I haven't been since I was an elementary school kid..
And we got to mess with all the buttons/switches in the senate chamber.. entertaining if your a kid.
Thank you to @GuyRelford @KellyinAvon @Bollorollo and all the other INGO'ers who have made this their work and shown up to push these bills through. Two pro-2A bills passed out of their assigned committees in the Indiana Senate this week and are now on their way to the Senate floor for a vote. Both bills have already passed in the House, so they're now just a couple of steps away from landing on the governor's desk to become law. ⁷
The two bills are:
HB 1084: Privacy of firearms transactions (prohibits use of credit card codes for gun store purchases). This is a very important bill, because several credit card companies and banks have openly discriminated against gun-related businesses. Using "credit card codes" to identify transactions at gun stores can greatly facilitate that type of discrimination - and HB 1084 would prohibit the use of those codes in Indiana, as well as prohibit the development of any list (or database) of gun purchasers or firearms in Indiana.
HB 1235: Prohibited causes of actions concerning firearms. This bill would require dismissal of the City of Gary's lawsuit against the gun industry and require any such lawsuit in the future to be filed only by the State. This ridiculous lawsuit, which has been pending for over TWENTY YEARS, seeks to blame the gun industry for Gary's problems with "gun violence." HB 1235 would not only require dismissal of this baseless litigation, it would prevent the filing of similar frivolous lawsuits by local governments in Indiana in the future.
I testified in favor of both bills in the Senate committee hearings (as I did in the House) as did KellyinAvon. Thanks to several other devoted members of The 2A Project who showed up this week to support us!
Please contact your state senator and respectfully ask him or her to support both HB 1084 and HB 1235 on the floor of the Senate! If you are unsure of who your senator is, you can find out and get contact information here: https://iga.in.gov/information/find-legislators.
Thank you!
We went during the summer, when nothin was going on. I sorta remember they let the whole class sit in all the seats and use the voting buttons, then we played with the switches on the back wall of the senate chamber. I don't remember going to the house chamber.Buttons and switches? That sounds fun for an adult too!
I remember being there when I was a senior in high school. They were going through first reading, I think it was in the house. I thought the house speaker was really rude banging the gavel after the guy would get like one sentence into the bill. now I understand why they do it that way.
Senate chambers are SWEET!We went during the summer, when nothin was going on. I sorta remember they let the whole class sit in all the seats and use the voting buttons, then we played with the switches on the back wall of the senate chamber. I don't remember going to the house chamber.
From memory, the Senate chamber hasn't changed in YEARS.
I didn't know that until watching the Committee Hearing debate during which he mentioned his connection to the Gary lawsuit. It was a fleeting remark. You guys realize that Senator Pol is also the Gary City attorney, right?
Does it have to do with the ruckus raised by Sue Glick and Liz Brown during its debate before the Senate Committee vote? The Dem votes against it were expected. Liz Brown voted Yes on the two poison pill amendments.I just got a "we're now in the 4th quarter" update cranked out for the ISRPA. I drafted it in Word, I looked down and I was passing 600 words so the version that goes out to the ISRPA might be edited a bit. I got wound-up going through what happened at the Statehouse THIS WEEK!
We are still in a fight to get HB 1235 (kills Gary v Glock) across the finish line. We'll need to mass the Pro-2A Forces a few more times before it's all said and done this year.
Lizzo seems to be all-in on suing the Koreans to get some bucks for Fort Wayne. She's proven herself to be anti-2A and now anti-gun owner. I guess she figures there aren't that many Senate district voters in those 400K 4473s.Does it have to do with the ruckus raised by Sue Glick and Liz Brown during its debate before the Senate Committee vote? Sadly Glick is my senator. She was a prosecutor when I left. I didn't exactly catch what all she did, and my time is limited this weekend. Can you give me cliff notes of what happened, and she will have a nasty email in her inbox come Monday. ThanksLizzo seems to be all-in on suing the Koreans to get some bucks for Fort Wayne. She's afraid HB 1235 will derail suing Hyundai/Kia. Old lady Glick was one of the other turncoats on ConC. Emails and phone calls will be needed.
@JAL and @BigMoose were on the live stream later on 20 February/after the testimony in the morning/after the Senate session IIRC. She voted against 1235 passing committee. I have not viewed the video. If you scroll back in this thread to 20 February later in the day (after 1700) there should be comments.Sadly Glick is my senator. She was a prosecutor when I left. Thats what I have been trying to do since I have some time this morning. I don't want to make a fool out of myself in an email to her. lol But I will say that the 2nd amendment is extremely important to many Lagrange County residents. The only ones I know that it isn't important to are the blue no matter who voters, and sadly I know a few of them. Yes -- the Nay votes were Sue Glick and the two Democrats. The video recording you want is "Part 2" which was recorded in the afternoon after the "Recess". Glick explained she feels the case should be finished with a final judgement (which could be devastating in size given Gary demographics) before anyone steps in. You can see her explanation in Part 2 of the recorded video for that day. IIRC, Part 2 is about a half hour long. Before writing her, you'll want to hear it for yourself.Thats what I have been trying to do since I have some time this morning.
