I never paid any attention to Federal AutoMatch until Zachcz kept singing its praises.
I had a case of it I picked up yrs ago & have been using it as a dependable round for my low-end needs.
I've learned not to ignore his advice on gun-related things.

He loves to make sport of me for paying too much for guns & I fought him for months & months resisting the Taurus TX (now I have it & the 5" Competition)
& especially Kel-Tec brand, but the CP33 is one of my top 3 .22LR pistols now.
Even the smaller P17 is a fine gun for the money, which was a surprise.

I look for the most reliable/ consistent/ cost for my steel shooting. Fed automatch, cci AR tactical for my 10-22 & 15/22 rifles. Aguila hv and blazer hv for both mkiv 22/45s. Use varies due to what's on my shelf.

Ok so I posted I’m looking for “better” 22 ammo to focus more on accuracy I was told to start with cci standard velocity and I bought a couple small boxes to give it a go today. But I am curious what is a GOOD price for this ammo? I have on,y ever bought thunderbolt and golden bullet. I know I know they are garbage but the squirrels think that they work just fine. The accuracy I am looking for is for paper. I keep seeing the “Aguilar super extra” just the name makes me not want to buy it.

A good price is what you're willing to pay for the ammo. Here's some data points to help you decide.

Straight from CCI it's just over 12 cents per round with shipping (limit 500 rds) ... https://www.cci-ammunition.com/rimfire/cci/

Ammoseek shows a range from 6.5 cents - 35.9 cents per round (limits vary) ... https://ammoseek.com/ammo/22lr/CCI?ikw=standard

My go to on-line ammo source is SGAmmo and they're at 9 cents per round (limit is what's available in stock) ... https://www.sgammo.com/product/22-l...round-nose-cci-standard-velocity-plastic-pack

Seems big box stores are about .10 per round so sgammo maybe the way to go since big box usually only have a few boxes

Online is usually the way to go with ammo purchases.

I've also bought a lot from SGAmmo.

I think the last time I got CCI SV, I got a case of 5K

I have had very good performance from the Aguila ammunition, as an example https://www.indianagunowners.com/threads/22lr-range-fun.475056/page-24#post-9377569

    This https://www.aguilaammo.com/products...rifle-high-velocity-copper-plated-solid-point
has ran reliably with good to excellent accuracy (for me) in everything from a Browning Buckmark to the Mossberg 46b above.

Frankly the performance, both accuracy and reliability, has been far better than the Winchester / Browning ammunition I have purchased.

Cabelas is selling for about the same cost as I recall. At least they are Mini Mags. (what my 10/22 LOVES... I get the same groups Jim does)

And I tried the Aguila. I actually get slightly worse accuracy out of those. Though my custom bolt from Pike Arms tightened the groups on those more than Mini Mags.
