It appears that a large number of Meijer stores have put up anti-gun signs across multiple states in the last two weeks.
    :(
I liked Meijer and often shopped there, but I guess I won't anymore. Anyone else hear about this? It must be something from a hater of the 2nd-amendment at Meijer corporate since it is across all (or most) stores.

I will be calling them today (1-877-363-4537) to voice my displeasure and ask them to reconsider this poorly-planned and counter-productive new policy. If anyone gets a chance, please call them or email them (at https://help.meijer.com/s/contact) and let them know. I'm surprised to see this new development at a large chain who has previously not been anti-gun...
It’s unfortunate. I have seen them too. I can’t think of a grocery store that really isn’t openly anti-firearm to some degree though.

Kinda, but IMO there is still a big difference. While many large corporations are anti-gun to some degree, few put up "we hate the 2nd amendment" signs on their stores. The strict anti-gun stance is limited mostly to Meijer, Whole Foods, & Sprouts Farmers Market (of the large grocery chains.) While Kroger, Safeway, Aldi & Walmart aren't exactly pro-gun, they don't put up the "we hate gun owners and want them to leave" signs... So in my opinion, they're more neutral and they get my shopping dollar.

In my experience, I only know of one grocery store that is openly not anti-gun. Lynn's Dakotamart in Pierre...Walk down the stairs to the basement level and you can buy guns, ammo, fishing, and camping gear. Heads would explode around here if there was a store like that.

And to the topic of Meijer...I stopped in the new(ish) Westfield store last week but didn't notice a no-blue-guns- sticker at the entrance. Good thing I wasn't carrying a blue gun.

These stores are vying for position in suburbia now. They are bowing to the woke folk mentality to be able to say how safe it is to shop there.
A lot of posters here have no idea just how much things have changed in a very short time concerning who votes who and the political leanings, particularly in what were republican areas that are now woke. For that matter even cocaine Mitch doesn’t get it either.

"No Gun" signs legality vary from state to state. Interpret this as you wish:

The state of Indiana does not have any specific law restricting guns on private property. However, its trespassing law gives owners the right to prohibit anyone from entering or remaining on their property without the owner’s consent (See I.C. § 35-43-2-2)

Agreed. I just do my best (nearly impossible) to spend my $$ somewhere that I don’t need to dodge signage attacking my rights.
Oddly enough is these parts those signs seem to be absent from many places that used to have them. Perhaps some are starting to realize that yeah the anti train is really not a good place to be.

I shop at my local Meijer regularly (was just in there tonight).

Because of this thread, I've been reading all of the signs as I go in. I've seen no anti-gun signage of any kind.
Okay... I finally saw the blue not sticker at my local Meijer.

It was posted on the far right side of their glass entry which, if you know Meijer, next to the exit doors, about as far away from and difficult to see for most entering the store as possible.... almost like they don't want folks to notice

I'm more pissed they wanted to scan my license before selling me beer. It's a(nother) new thing. I'll be visiting my LBS (Local Booze Shop) going forward.

Like many retailers and even INGO members, they want a record they confirmed your age via ID if the ABC questions it, like some here want a bill of sale and to see your carry permit…

When they ask to see ID to verify age you can ask them not to scan it. The cashier can either key in a birthdate or bypass that part altogether.

If I'm asked I usually just hold out the ID for them to see. I don't hand it over. I've never had an issue.

I purchased a bottle of Four Roses and a pork butt from one of their stores last week. Never showed an ID (must look old). Had a 1911 and a 38 wheel at the time.

    They still take cash.

Things may change down the road.

No, that activists were pushing banks not to do business with gun related businesses, things like no credit card processing for LGS, and that was likely in insurance also…
That was the Fed under Obama not activists. They labeled gun companies as high risk for the banking industry.

I was friends with a very pro-gun owner of a Ford dealership. One day, while my car was being serviced, I noticed a "no guns" sign. I asked him about it and he replied that Ford demanded it. I once worked part-time in a gun shop where the new owner was going to ban the carrying of firearms by his employees. He said his insurance company demanded it. I told the manager that maybe the new owner should consider a different insurance company. I said that when the ban went into effect, I'd quit. The ban never went into effect. I ended up quitting anyway because of the poor way the new owner treated employees.

I pay as much attention to those gun signs as I do the greeter who asks to see my receipt
Same here. Seriously let me get this right, first you want to hover over me while I check out with two items, bag of chips and a Gatorade. You watch me put the cash into the check out now you want to see my receipt!

Seriously this is why I no longer shop at Wally World.
