My wife didn't like the texture of her Shield + so I purchased the Talon Rubber black. Applying the grips following their instructions was a breeze. They fit perfectly with no trimming required. The small piece that goes on the 13 rnd extended magazine is sold separately so don't forget to order that if you want it. Removal shouldn't be a problem if you follow their instructions and use a heat gun/blow dryer. The wife loved the upgrade. I really don't mind the rough texture of the factory grip but I think I like the Talons better so I'll probably order another set for mine.

I'll have to see if wearing under a t-shirt come summer will cause issues with rubbing on my bare skin. If it does, I'll try a set.

Most of the time I wear a T-shirt as a base and another shirt of some kind over it.

I tried that with my Shield 45 1.0 it was a mistake. I put that rubber safety tape on it and made a huge difference.

On my daily carry M&P40 2.0 compact, I just touched the skin side of the grip with 1000 grit sandpaper. You cannot tell by looking at it, but you can sure feel a difference. All you are really doing with sandpaper is knocking down the sharp tips to each texture protrusion.

I'm at work and my site supporter status expired, I left my wallet at home so I can't pay and be reinstated, so I can't send PM's since I have like 309 messages and I'm knocked back down to 60,lol.

    Been a day!

I'll PM you at some point. I forgot about this thread and moved on to other stuff.

That said, understanding that grip is largely a function of squeezing hard to control the pistol, and given that the texture on the 2.0 Smiths is pretty aggressive, do you guys think I would gain a tighter purchase on the pistol with additional tape/Talon grips?

I know that I really have to bear down pretty hard now and then when I run stuff like a Bill Drill, I can feel the pistol moving more as the rounds are fired. Apparently my vice grip is only good for a couple rounds. :dunno:

Get the finest grit sanding block (sponge) you can at Lowes/Home Depot, and GENTLY rub it over the grip until you knock down the texture to your liking.

I don't know if that post was meant for me but it's not too aggressive. I'm not sure it's aggressive enough.

No, sir! Was replying to the OP on how to "tame" the grip texture.
I ordered the rubber talon grips and they will be here...sometime. Ordered them Feb 21 (or around that date) but, being cheap, I went for the nontrackable shipping option. Who knows when they will arrive. I figured if they didn't work well for me, I would then try the sanding route.
