    So there is this.

DNC Chair: Superdelegates Exist to Protect Party Leaders from Grassroots Competition

    FTA:
“Unpledged [super]delegates exist really to make sure that party leaders and elected officials don’t have to be in a position where they are running against grassroots activists..."

    Say what?!?!

So she pretty much admitted that there is a class of delegate that can ignore the voters wishes in order to put who the party wants in place. So instead of taking a majority to elect a candidate, we the peons require a supermajority to win.

Though I cant say I am surprised given their propensity to be nannies. "we want candidate 1 as the party leadership. If you vote for candidate 1, we will honor your request. If you vote for candidate 2, we will do our best to overrule your vote and put candidate 1 on the ballot anyway. Screw you!"

    Not very democratic, is it?

My only surprise is that they have the balls to admit that they are doing it.

Debbie Washingmachine Sluts doesn't seem bright enough that she would realize she'd just admitted to that. Unfortunately, most of their voters aren't either.

If you are in the business of command and control politics, then it makes perfect sense.

The kiddies voting for Bernie know this too, they are just kids raging against Mommy.

Not surprised by the tactics or the cajones to announce it. Just another shot across the bow of "we the people" the "we the politicians" know what the people want and need better than the people do. The problem is that if you've cut your finger they want to place a tourniquet around your neck to stop the bleeding!:xmad:

The "honor" of being elected should carry an automatic death sentence at the end of each term. If you've been a successful leader then and only then do you have the option of continuing for another term or retiring. The people decide by popular vote whether or not you've done as you said you would do. Thumbs down:noway:, hello lion pit. Thumbs up:yesway: hello taxpayer financed retirement in the Bahamas. I wonder how rapidly a secure national energy policy or balanced budget could be secured if they actually had something to lose?

They can't help but to believe the lies, most people are fed their info, it's hardly ever seeked out. It's like everything else... at a convenience.
I will say that if people started holding these politicians accountable to even a fraction of their promises, we'd be living in different times.

Looking back at the last two POTUS elections, I don't trust "the people" either! :dunno:

Meh, everything involving leadership revolves around money, really big money. People in charge of political organizations aren't about to see that connection threatened or they will find themselves replaced. The elections alone are big money generators for the groups involved, particularly big media, the whole cycle is devolving into a a mix of soap opera and WWE. All real decisions that matter are made in dc by the big machine of law/lobby firms that work with both bureaucrats and elected officials. You get the legislation, regulations, policy, whatever, that you pay for, and it's open to the world. Third world dictator or chinese businessman, if you've got the cash, it's for sale.

    Always follow the money

Do they really know this? Obama didn't turn out to be the "Obama" they voted for. So, they think they're going to make the "Obama Unicorn" happen this time with Bernie. And this time, they think it will work, because he's an avowed Socialist. Whereas Obama ran away from that label, preferring "change" and "yes we can" as less objectionable alternatives. They don't understand what happened to them last time: that America will only tolerate so much change at a time, and no more.

But Hillary has them squarely outsmarted on this go-around. They're going to gripe about her all through the Primary...then vote for The Machine in November. Because they will have no choice.

The Democrat party understands Bernie will cost them Congressional seats that are not even currently in play. He will "purple-up" Blue districts, and make Purple ones Red. They will not let "Bernie" happen.

I think we have finally reached this point in our republic:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."

Meh, if Bernie was elected Bernie would deal, just like obie. Solar shingle scammers and their ilk with good dc connections will make money in public/private deals. It's all the same at that level.

There are ways to deal with this problem.

Buses are helpful for people that prefer public transportation.

However, it's laughable when people are herded on a large (or any) bus to the polling place as they are coached on 'which presidential candidate' to vote for as they are enroute to the polls.

When (not if) Sanders loses due to super-delegates, I can see a civil war within the Democrat party occupying them over the next couple years.

Those kids want their Socialist cult icon to be President. If he loses due to this, they will have blood.
