ERRR DERRRR....Should I put my hand in front of the barrel when loading my pistol???:n00b:

For some reason I can't imagine the level of stupid for someone to put or have their hand in front of a barrel of a firearm they are loading!

How does one even get their hand in front of the barrel whilst loading/unloading? :dunno: I have loaded unloaded my semi auto pistols literally MILLIONS of time and cant figure that one out.:dunno:

I'm with Kirk on this one. If they want ppl to unload their weapons they should provide a safe environment/area to do so. I think it would be better to not have ppl messing with their guns personally since all these NDs happen during loading/unloading but that'll never happen. Dude shot his pinky off from what I heard at the show.

Dunno, seems to me, in this instance, concealed means CONCEALED. If you have it loaded and concealed and you KEEP it holstered and CONCEALED no it no danger to anyone. Nor does anyone know you have a loaded gun on you.

But then you will ALWAYS have some idiot come along and just HAVE to pull out that loaded gun and touch one off inside the packed room.

(NO SUCH THING AS A NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE!!!)

Wonder if the DEA agent that shot himself in front of those kids had been trained by a "Certified Legitimate Trainer" or just a certified trainer...

Perhaps if they were to be held liable for injuries during NDs that policy would change.

?.......kind'a stoopid as h*** ain't it?......WHY should THEY be liabel if YOU (or anybody....) ND a round in yer ownself ?......Mostly the MAIN problem with this country these days......everbody wants the other dude to pay for they stupidity.....cain't go along with'a logic on that 1.....:twocents:

I am wondering if it was actually the slide that got his hand and not the round itself? Doesn't matter as the news media will make the worst our of it regardless.

Training won't do away with 100% of ND's because every group has "That guy" but when you factor in percentages trained personnel have a lot less than untrained! And for the record I am a certifed Federal LE Firearms instructor and am quietly ammused by the Call of Duty 3 mentality that I see at almost every gun shop and gun show, Not by everyone but you see it a lot!

Just got the press release from ISP in my inbox:

Accidental Discharge at Gun and Knife Show Slightly Injures One

Indianapolis, IN- This afternoon at approximately 4:15 p.m., Indiana State Police responded to the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show being held at the South Pavilion of the State Fairgrounds to the report of an accidental shooting.

The investigation revealed that a patron of the event, Emory L. Cozee, 54, of Indianapolis, had walked out the east entrance of the South Pavilion building and was loading his .45 caliber semi-automatic when he shot himself in the hand.

Cozee was transported to Wishard Hospital for treatment.

The investigation determined the shooting to be accidental and no charges will be filed.

*No qualms with posting his name, since it 'is' in an ISP press release...

Wait, you mean he shot himself with a 45 and didn't burst into flames!!!! Did he not get the Memo on how deadly the 45 is! LOL

How appropriate would it have been, if Mr. Cozee was a cop.

    Or perhaps he is...or was?

Well as we all know "those things just have a mind of their own".... Well in truth accidents are accidents, hopefully they are treated as such. I know the media spins stuff, hopefully they just call it a ND and be done with it. This type of "shooting" doesn't really help their agenda a whole lot either. Just trying to be optimistic...

WOW honestly amazed on the people placing blame on the 1500 for making this guy reload/unload. Really if you can't load and unload a gun with out shooting yourself you probably shouldn't have a gun. If you can't unload a gun without having a sand barrel to shoot into you probably shouldn't have a gun. How about place blame on this dude for being completely stupid and giving all gun owners a bad name at a time when we can least afford it. God help us if a kid would had been in line with that 45.

This was right outside the doors of the show. It appeared the gentleman shot his pinky finger off. I saw the State Trooper walk by with a box from the scene. Appeared to be a 1911.

This guy was wheeled to an ambulance on a stretcher with oxygen. Wife hopped in the front seat of the ambulance.

These idiots NEVER amuse me! not in the least! I have never been "trained" but i know better than to do that garbage! WHY? Because I was lucky enough to have a dad and a few other crusty old marines teach me at a very young age. I FEAR what my dad will do to me if i even THINK about breaking one of the firearms safety rules....and hes been DEAD for 14 years!!

How deliciously ironic THAT would be. :):
