I first heard about this on WIBC. But the only web site I could find it on was a Cincinnati news station:

I hope this gets lots of attention on the local media.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indianapolis police say a grocery store employee shot and killed a robber who pointed a gun at a woman with a baby.

Sgt. Matthew Mount says the robber was shot at Tienda Suarez on the city's northwest side Sunday night.

The suspect was critically injured when police arrived. He was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The suspect has not yet been identified.

Mount says the shooting appears to be justified. Police will turn over the results of their investigation to the Marion County Prosecutor's office, which will determine if any charges should be filed.

    Kudos to that employee!!!!

I think the focus should be on the live employees (one of whom appears to be a hero), baby, and mother, and on the dead BG.

    P.s.

thank god for the employee with the gun ..and theanks to him a lady with a child will have christmas

Very well said. So perhaps the challenge to the Indy Star (and any other local media outlet) would be to do a Christmas feature about the family whose baby was saved.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Matthew Mount said the robber, brandishing a handgun, corralled all the customers into one part of the store. When the robber pointed the gun at a woman and her child, an employee shot him. The man was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police would not identify the robbery suspect or the employee late Sunday. No charges had been filed against the employee, but Mount said the case would be reviewed by Marion County prosecutors to determine whether the shooting was justified.

    Good job to the employee.

    Tiendo? I've never shopped there.
If this was a white guy robbing a Marsh it would be bigger news.

Sad to say - he's probably the unemployed hero of the week.
Could be, but somehow I doubt it. Smaller businesses tend to be less reactionary to that kind of situation. Also:

    Store employee shoots attempted robber

"As a business owner you are allowed to have a gun on the premise to protect your property. If that was the owner's gun, that has yet to be determined, But in this case, he felt this woman and child were in extreme danger and that's apparently why he took the action that he did, "IMPD Sgt. Matthew Mount said.
I'm not certain, but it is possible the "store employee" was the owner.

Don't get me wrong, I hope the guy/girl gets some kind of medal. Unfortunately, most people are crucified for their actions.

I caught part of the story on channel 8 last night. They general tone was all about whether or not the hero could legally have a gun in the business, and nothing about the actions that resulted in saving the lives of the other victims. Typical.

They just don't get or they do get it and choose to exist in a state of constant intellectual dishonesty.
