ruger lcp mishap

Guy at work had his ruger blow up on the first round. I don't know all the details. Just that it was a brand new out of the box, first round kaboom! Destroyed the gun. He was not injured.

I have only had my LCP for a couple weeks but so far it has been flawless. Been feeding it WWB and GoldDots one or two more outings and it will be promoted to carry gun status.

Is this person a new gun owner? Read (some sort of operator error). My Ruger is new but I have shot about 150 rounds thus far without a single issue. I love it as my BUG.

Are we sure he used proper .380 ammunition? Was it a reload or factory ammo? What brand?

Agreed! I saw the picture at work the other day. Sadly I saw it on another co workers phone, not from the owner. All I got from him was that he took it back to the dealer he bought it from and they gave him a brand new LCP in exchange. I have lots of questions myself, I don't know what would cause it besides the barrel being plugged. I don't own a .380 like that is it even possible to get a 9mm in there?!?

I would like to hear the details on this also, my LCP was promoted to a carry gun after it's 500th round last summer. FYI, only 1 FTE with some cheap cci ammo out of all 500 rounds.

Yes, this^... a thousand times this ^ !!

I tell people all the time to clean "new guns" first, too!! VERY important.
ANYthing in the barrel is considered an obstruction. Heck, even too much oil left in there is considered that!
CLEAN them.
