Denver Police Beat Man for Offering to Testify
In yet another Denver police brutality case, a man was walking his dog, saw a traffic stop, offered to be a witness against the police. He filmed it on his phone, and he says when he refused to surrender his phone, he was subdued by force.

New case & new video: Man walking dogs alleges police used excessive force - KDVR

Note to mods - these two threads are about entirely different incidents. Didn't want confusion to lead to an unwarranted merge.

i love it when police come up with these magical false charges on people when they wanna flex their muscles and hide behind the law to get away with it.

go argue with a cop even if your right and what do they pull out of their bag of tricks? drum roll .................... disorderly conduct should work. and the crowd says, booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

How dare that guy video tape the police...That video is evidence and should be handled only by the proper authorities. If he wasn't willing to give it up then he should have been arrested for disorderly conduct!

I guess I'm just heartless and cruel but I laughed at the part where he is down on the ground getting his butt kicked and his own dog comes up and licks him on the nose.

Otherwise it sounds like he and his attorney are gonna make a lot of money on this one.

I'd glady give them my phone after I took the mini SDS chip out. Then I would take the chip to all the local news stations. They can have the bill too.

Several phones can upload directly to youtube right after you stop recording. Once it's on the interwebs it's not going away.

sorry but if ANYONE starts hitting me in the head and stomping me to the ground, then im using deadly force to protect myself. once im in fear of my life and the people causing it are breaking the law, then theres no distinction between who they are. i simply just want to self preserve.

I'm not a fan of the "resisting arrest" charges. You rush me, I'm gonna defend myself. Uniform or not. If you come talk to me like a civil human being, then I may help you out. Hell, if you told me there was a warrant out for me, I'd show up to your office with my lawyer in tow. you don't even need to come get me.

While I'm talking it over with them, I would have already hit the button to upload it in the background to YouTube. The Palm Pre - Video -> YouTube. Bam. :D

Another couple of fine, upstanding cops.

One of the degenerates was actually wearing jack-boots. LOL.

I have Family in the Denver area and apparently you don't hear about bad cops there in Denver PD much... apparently it is a FAIRLY good group but you never know and sometimes they do end up in the news.......

When I got off the plane in Denver last time I was out there there was a Denver cop (apparently Denver International Airport uses Denver cops.... could be wrong....... not airport cops. He was making small talk with this young kid and said "Hi I am officer so and so with the Denver Police Department.... if you could not tell by the uniform and badge"....

I did a HUGE mental face palm as I laughed....... I think he also realized his fail.....

In Indiana, thanks to an erroneous ruling by the Supreme Court, we lack the "privilege" of resisting an unlawful arrest.

Apparently nobody told them that they read their own precedents incorrectly, unless I've completely lost my mind. More on my blog:

I keep reading that incidents where cops abuse citizens and violate their rights are just "isolated" incidents and that most cops are aren't like this. I'm really starting to wonder about the "isolated" part. Here in Henry County, we have had a number of our police arrested in the last year. One city detective was arrested for producing child pornography, two city officers were arrested for ghost employment, one sheriff's deputy was fired for driving his truck into a house while he was drunk and a jail officer was arrested for sexual battery after he fondled a woman that he was giving a ride home from the hospital. We also had another city officer get fired for failure to complete some counseling, after he was suspended for allegedly making unwanted sexual advances towards a woman who had called the police because her son was being incorrigible. Is it any wonder that citizens frequently have a very low opinion of police officers?

Not to get TOO far off topic, because the original post is horrible and those guys are total douche-bags, the only time the news really want's to report anything about cops is when they do something ridiculous and horrible. They rarely report when they do something great that is in their normal duties. I get what you are saying and I agree that there are a LOT of bad cops, but the media makes it seem worse than it is, just like they do with every other topic because they care about ratings, not news. :noway:

I've never understood the argument you're making.

Headline: Police Make it Through Shift Arresting Bad Guys, Enforcing Traffic Safety, and Rescuiing Kittens.

It's like if teachers said, "We never make headlines when some kid learns how to add fractions, but golly gee, the first time we have sex with a student they're all over the place."

We pay the cops to enforce the law. When they screw up and give unwarranted beatdowns, it's going to make the news.

We expect the cops to do their jobs and attempt to protect us from the bad guys. It's damned sure news when they turn into people we need protecting from.

I don't know about Indiana, never watched the local news much when I lived there, but here in Colorado when a cop doesn't something exceptionally good, it gets reported.
