Loaned a muzzle loader to a guy a year or so ago....wanted to get his son out deer during a time when only ML is permitted by the king. (BTW, lending a gun to a buddy that lends it to his son is the kind of thing many "progressives" would like to see banned...I say they can go straight to Hell.)

Got it back....he told me it still had a charge from his last day out and that the primer was removed.

Took it out recently to clear the charge....

    Dead on at 100.

Cleaned and ran a fouling shot.

    Dead on at 100.

Kid clearly took good care of things.

With all the BS in "today's society", it is worth remebering there are still some folks cut from yesterday's cloth.

ETA: Kid got a deer with his Dad. Good stuff.

Man the list of things I miss is long.

I miss the simplicity. No phones/social :bs: networking. Leave the house with as set course of things to accomplish and no one missed you. The phone was on the wall at home. We were pretty self reliant.
Ahh, Yes....... The Good Ole Days. You could actually have some time alone.

Throwing some wood on the fire...

Of course, that means hauling it up while the rain is pouring down!

    Good memories and good times.

    Lomg story cut short...

Was looking forward to hunting with a buddy and his son. Buddy could not go, so just me and his son.

    Great kid....

    Works hard.
    Hunts well.
    Exercises gun safety.
    Wise decisions in the field.

Great day and a great reminder that there are some great fathers teaching their kids well.

Folks, never pass on an opportunity to spend time with a kid.

Caught up with an old buddy today.... Course of conversation he brought up a road trip we made to Texas for hog hunting a few years ago. It was, by any meausre possible, an adventure mixed with success and failure.

"The more I think back on that trip, the better I liked it" he says to me. I would like to do that again.

Good thing about old buddies is that you've been good friends for so long, even in the crap you can find some good memories and the willingness to make some more.

Had a buddy stop by today to drop off a completely and unnecessary "thank you gift".

I was reminded yet again of what my Grandfather and my Dad often taught.....The greatest gift one can ever give or receive is that of authentic friendship.

Caught a post earlier about a Dad teaching his girl how to shoot.

Brought back same great memories of Friday night shoots in the back yard with Dad.

So many good memories with Dad and Mom and siblings popping cans off of a swing set while burgers were cooking.

A little tip, if I may...

Be good parents to your children. They will appreciate more than they can ever tell.
