I stick to regular sterile gauze in all my medical kits, no hemostatic stuff.BTW hope they ain’t allergic to shellfish!
It's WAY less expensive especially when you don't live in the US (nearly $90 for 4 yards of Quikclot over here I think).
The packing and the pressure is what stop the bleeding.
If you use QuikClot (or other brand) the blood coagulation will start bit sooner compared with the use of a non-hemostatic agent, but the bleeding will have stopped at the same time.
As soon as the veins, arteries and tissues are all compressed.
It might change how long you have to apply pressure to the wound after you packed it.
But to me it doesn't really matter if you have to apply pressure for 15 minutes instead of 10 minutes.
In reality you're just going to keep manual pressure until EMS shows up, or switch to a pressure bandage.
