I have a winchester model 70 made between 73-74 chambered in 7mm rem mag. I am wanting to put a straight taper heavy barrel on it. I am currently looking at a shilen barrel. It comes threaded and cambered but I have to do the shank removal for proper head spacing. My question is what all kind of tools will I need to do this. I have access to lathes and other machines via friends and work, but I don't know exactly what the entire process is but I would really like to learn and not just send it off to have it built for me. Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.
