Don't know if this is true but I have heard that the more severe response is an indication the your immune system is building a strong resistance to the virus.
I've never been the type that's prone to throwing up when sick. For me storms usually happen south of the equator. But on Sunday things were so volatile I could have put out a camp fire with what was coming out the back side.

I watched a little TV this evening, and there were several commercials for drugs for all sorts of conditions. One thing they had in common was a long list of disclaimers, like "may cause incontinence, depression, anxiety, insomnia, hysterical flatulence, skin rash, stomach upset, birth defects, brain cancer, indigestion, and loss of vision".

Ok, maybe not some of those extremes, but these are medications that have been through extensive testing for short-term and long-term effects, and have identifiable side effects. They are fully approved by the FDA, after long trial periods, among many different populations. They have been tested with the young and old, and in between. They have been tested across races, and against people with other underlying health conditions. They have been tested with the fertile and the pregnant.

They pimp their wares, and they COMPETE. They compete with alternative medicines as to which is the most efiicacious with the fewest or least likely side effects.

Now, we have three competing COVID vaccines. They are all experimental. None are fully FDA approved. Maybe I just haven't seen them, but I don't think there's a single commercial from Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson extolling the virtues of their product over their competitition. I would expect to see some advertising enticing me towards one, but there is none. Maybe because these companies are being fed and fueled by the US government, and they're going to profit regardless. WHY AREN'T THEY ADVERTISING THAT THEIR PRODUCT IS THE BEST PRODUCT?

Take your dose, guinea pig. When we figure out the side effects of this ineffectual drug trial, you can take solace in the fact that your sacrifice will allow other people to not repeat your mistakes.

At least the parents who had Thalidomide babies saved money on gloves and shoes. :xmad:

Do you know why they have to say that? AFAIK symptom that had even the slightest connection is required by law to be part of that advertisement. And aren't most of those medicines long term usage? That's a lot different than one or two doses.

As to why aren't they (J&J, Modera, Pfizer) advertising? (A) Why bother? Demand is unlimited. (B) The FDA controls what can and can't be advertised. I gotta imagine something with special authorization isn't going to get an OK for advertising.

Thalidomide? Why don't we also cherry pick the THERAC machine, too; has about as much of a connection.

But, WTF do I know? I'm just a guinea pig. (is that better or worse than being a sheep?)

PS - A healthy skepticism is a good thing.

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the Biden administration’s top adviser on Covid-19, acknowledged the shift in experts’ thinking.
“People were getting confused and thinking you’re never going to get the infections down until you reach this mystical level of herd immunity, whatever that number is,” he said.
“That’s why we stopped using herd immunity in the classic sense,” he added. “I’m saying: Forget that for a second. You vaccinate enough people, the infections are going to go down.”

Can anyone currently get access to the vaccine in Indiana?

Or is it restricted to age groups, at risk people with comorbidities, certain professions etc?
Based on age. Pretty much any adult can get vaccinated. 16 and up can get certain vaccines. Depends on CDC approval.

I've been hesitant to post an update because it's gross, but the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine jacked my stomach up real bad. About 24 hours in I started getting very tired and had a slight fever and chills. About 36 hours after getting the shot I got a case of severe gastrointestinal distress that ran steady for about 12 hours straight. I'll leave it at that.

Things have improved a little over the last 24 hours, but my stomach is still doing flip flops and sounds like a severe thunderstorm. The nausea, bloating and gas buildup is pretty bad still.

It has not been a fun four days.
Sorry to hear that! I got my first Pfizer dose and only had the ache in the arm for three days. My second appointment is next week.

A guy I work with claimed his second dose of Pfizer to be the one that gave him issues. I guess we'll see how it works out for me next week. Best wishes to you in your recovery.

As far as being a guinea pig, dude at the range claims that it might give us all arm cancer in 20 years. Who knows? Kind of a weird place to be in...

Risk an infection with a low mortality rate or get a vaccine with even less risk of an adverse reaction?

Try to be part of a solution to a problem that those in power are not going to let go of until their collective noses can be rubbed in the truth that humanity is NOT in peril of extinction due to COVID or refuse to be a part of their experimental medical trial and let them move on to more "persuasive" methods to comply with their desires?

So many ways to do everything wrong these days it is hard to tell how to do anything right!

If you don't think you are doing anything wrong, just wait a few minutes, someone will be along shortly to tell you how much you suck!

Actually, yes, on NPR quite often. (I can hear Bug's eyes rolling)

Just this morning they had reporters in other countries checking in - got a good time to be in Brazil.

The other day it was about Germany.
Today's story was on vaccination problems in Africa. Notably Malawi was dumping expired vax because folks their panicked when the EU halted the AstroZenica rollout.

Local girl is dealing with badly swollen lymph glads since taking her 2nd shot. Her doctor is puzzled  May not be from the vaccine but who in heck knows?

Why advertise something that various governments have agreed to buy your entire production of?
