I am truly disappointed. I was really looking forword to witnessing Doom level bloody gore. You know, splatters everywhere, dripping off anything tall, all the good stuff.

I checked twice now when I took a break. No anarchy. My peaceful neighbors didn't suddenly become bloodthirsty villains bent on wanton destruction (you know, like in the Purge movies). Nothing happened!

I just don't understand. Dougggie Carter, half brained Holcomb, Mayor Hogs***, and his lacky the Chief certainly seemed to have been wrong. Along with most of our local media.

I'm just shocked, shocked I tell you!

And the rest of us will turn into lawbreaking gang members and do carjackings and drive by shootings just because we're so excited.

So read this article and it implies that private businesses will have the weight of law to not allow carry. Is it just what we had before (they can ask you to leave and charge trespassing if you don’t) or is it like IL now, where if you enter you are breaking the law? https://www.yahoo.com/news/anyone-carry-handgun-without-permit-135713661.html
Nothing changed with that. And also the 18 and younger nonsense in that article isn't true. 18 year olds are allowed.

I feel dumber having read this. My comments are in blue.

For instance, guns still are prohibited on school grounds, school buses, in airports and on planes. The law, IC 35-47-2-1.5, also allows private businesses to prohibit firearms from their property. It is effective July 1.

Uuummm, nothing changed there. Also, "on there property" is flat-out wrong since the parking lot law forbids that. In the building? Nothing changed. Signs have no force of law, if told to leave, leave or it's criminal trespassing.

    Monroe County gun restrictions

The legislation includes a provision allowing county, city and town officials to restrict firearms from any building that has a courtroom. Monroe County commissioners took action in that regard this week, when they voted to add two public sites — the Health Services Building and the Youth Services Bureau — to the county properties where handguns aren't allowed.

The others on the list are the Zietlow Justice Center, the Monroe County Courthouse, the Curry Building and the community corrections program headquarters. All have courtrooms or rooms used for judicial proceedings or administrative hearings.

There was no public comment on the issue at the commissioners' Wednesday meeting; the ordinance passed 3-0. "It's really important for all of us and our safety," commissioners' president Julie Thomas said.

Courthouses have always been an exception to the Preemption Statute. A lot of pearl-clutching at this meeting I bet. Any further and Monroe County opens itself up to a lawsuit.

Not everyone can carry a handgun

This change in the law also doesn't apply to everyone.

Anyone designated a "prohibited person" cannot carry a handgun, with or without a permit. This includes: people convicted of a crime who spent more than a year in jail; people convicted of domestic violence, battery or stalking; anyone with a restraining order against them; people with documented mental health disorders; and anyone ever committed to a mental institution or dishonorably discharged from military service.

Can't POSSESS a firearm if you are a PROHIBITED POSSESSOR. Documented mental health disorders? Hey Laura: you spelled "adjudicated mentally deficient" wrong. You have OCD and now you lose your gun rights? WRONG!

The law also prohibits people age 18 and younger, and nonlegal residents, from carrying handguns.

Under 18, not 18 and under. Also per 18 USC 922: ILLEGAL ALIENS are prohibited possessors of firearms.

With the exception of the PO/RO, nothing else will show up when an officer run's their information through IDACS and the stop cannot be extended solely to verify this, this is a significant obstacle for LE. Hopefully there is a reasonable answer for this but I doubt it. There will be quite a few prohibited persons who slip through our fingers unfortunately.
Also per 18 USC 922: ILLEGAL ALIENS are prohibited possessors of firearms.
Yeah, good luck figuring that out. Ain't gonna happen.

When I took my parents to AT&T to solve my mom's phone not working, a young saleslady said she remembered me from last month when I got a new phone.

Of course, in the car, my mom seemed impressed that a young girl remembered me.
I told her, it probably was the gun on the hip, and not the 70s mustache that she remembered.
Maybe she is a vintage pornhub watcher!

One of the most well-written and succinct booklets published by a state legislator I've read.

Now, if only Holcomb could read.
