    I thought a stove pipe is a fired round that did not stroke the slide hard enough to hit the ejector while the extractor hook was still holding it. This blocks the next round and the slide closes on the spent, but still held case.

    The open end of the fired round points upward like a chimney.

    If the person is using a heavy-duty recoil spring could that possibly have dent the rim? Also Making it look like a lawnmower hit it?
    Yet there is another dent in the middle of the case also.
