I've been following Portland. Place is gone to crap with woke policies.

    REI Left downtown. And Nike.
    And Walmart left.

Forget Portland. It’s a lost cause like San Francisco and Chiraq. All “governed” by libtard, woke socialists who don’t give a damn about the Constitution or laws of this country. God save the United States! Seems like nobody can step up and fix things. Trump tried and the Democrats are now out to crucify him. :wallbash:

The problem with ignoring them is that they are going to come running to the Federal government to bail them out of their over-promised and underfunded pensions, their Detroit-style wastelands, their chemically-altered Walking-Dead remaining “citizens.” And they will blame Elon Musk and any other productive citizen with a brain who left long ago for taking their money and productivity with them. So they will want taxes on the red zones to “get their moneyback.” And if Brandon and his totalitarian puppetmasters are still in charge it will happen.

I suppose I should’ve put all the “ All the X stores in Portland are closing… “ in one thread.

    Anyway.

Coava Coffee, who I never heard of, has three locations in Portland and they are closing the downtown one because “extreme violence and break-ins”. The interview with the precious barista revealed that even teaching the baristas de-escalation techniques and giving them hazard pay (seriously!) didn’t help. People break windows and throw chairs during business hours. Maybe they should hire some Waffle House employees.

    Fun fact:
they are, or were, in the same building that Amazon store abandoned for pretty much the same reasons. The only business left in that building is a bar/restaurant; the bar owner puts a cheery face on it because he hasnt been vandalized/burgled for 30 days (woohoo!) but if you listen to him, he is stuck because he signed a long-term lease. He’s a small business owner, so he doesn’t have corporate backing to just pay off the lease termination penalty and bail out.

    Fun Fact:
79% of small businesses in Portland had a break-in in 2022, often more than one.

And I’ll bet the clueless bastards won’t change their voting patterns one bit.

Oregon voters sorry they decrimmed drugs.

Portland-based DHM Research surveyed 500 Oregonians and found that 63% support reinstating criminal punishments for drug possession while continuing to fund treatment programs.

And yet they elected the one gubernatorial candidate who said she would not support reinstating criminal penalties

Every demographic DHM listed in the survey, which had a plus or minus 4.4% margin of error, supported bringing back criminal penalties for possession, though support was lowest (51%) among 18-29 year olds. Republicans were most supportive (80%) of re-criminalization.

There are still Republicans in Oregon?

An audit also found the state's health authority could not provide data showing how hundreds of millions of dollars earmarked for addiction services were spent.

So the program was a roaring success for someone.

Portland gets federally sued into banning ”camping” on city streets (at least in the daytime?) because it blocks access to the disabled and violates the ADA.

Must clean up 500 camps per year
No issuing tents or tarps except in emergency
Have to start within 5 days of some report being issued
    Federal court enforced

The mayor says he’s glad he got sued over this.

Long past due for disabled and undisabled alike, but if you’re in the “cleaning up the homeless camps” business, KaCHING! And more donations to the mayor’s political party.
