Exactly. Ive said before that id just love to have back the clinton era democrats. Sure we played dirty sometimes but there was a mutual respect still down in the trenches. I had good friends who worked in Democrat offices. Good friends.
    This party, i dont recognize.
Hell i dont even recognize the republican party that i was deep into. Both parties have shifted left.

But no, i wont be voting for ANY democrats. Even if i liked them (i dont like bayh) electing a democrat just gives the whole party more power. No way.
And yes, i have voted for democrats in the past. Ive always tried to vote for the person running and not the party.
Not now. No way will i support a socialist party in this Republic. We are at war.
You and me both. Years ago the democrat party may have been for the working man and today I believe that is BS. I always tried to vote for the person and not the party. This has changed and the last election was the first I voted straight ticket. After voting I ran across an old high school friend at the gas station and informed me that he had just voted straight republican ticket for the first time. I told him that if there had been a handle on the machine I may yanked it clean off. We both laughed at how things had changed.

While it seems Evan Bayh is a more confident, competent centristish Democrat, won't the uber lefties come for him with the long knives? He could be a sharper answer to the gaff-o-matic Biden. Is there enough of the democrat voter of the past represented in the group that will go to the polls and cast a vote to move him into the top 5?

If Republicans had their **** together they should be able to destroy this hard leftist socialist plague that has taken root in the Democrat Party.

I believe that there still are a number of reasonable Democrats out there that are not at all happy about the direction thier party is headed, heck there are a few here in Ingo that have even come out and said so but they have also said that the Republican Party going all the way to the top hasn’t really done anything to make them feel that our way is any better.

The Republican Party has demonstrated time and time again to be the party of missed opportunities.

I think people from both sides are getting tired of the crazy and I think Trump could garner a lot more support if he didn’t exhibit such crazy ass tendencies himself.

Agreed, but it starts at the top. Trump would have a lot more support if it wasn't for his mouth. His administration would be completely different, dare I say positive if he didn't given to his narcissistic tendancies and acted like an adult.

I think that ignores the real motivation: they don't WANT to destroy the hard leftist socialist agenda within the Democrat Party. The further WAAAAY left the Dems go, the more reasonable the Republican party looks - even with Trump at the helm.

The natural progression of the Dems is socialism then communism. IMO that has always been their end goal.

Well if we get what his party wants, then winning Indian doesn't mean anything anyway. All that matters is the coasts. And he's not a hard core commie so he has no place in the current Dem party.

    .
Evan Bayh is above all things an opportunist. He or somebody with money to back him smells defeat on Joe Biden.

I always hear some version of this, the wistful "If only Trump would be not like Trump" from people who don't like him anyway. I don't think he could ever change enough to please it's adherents and to try to do so would only weaken his bond with his base and set him up for the death of a thousand cuts from the "If he'd only change to please me" crowd. I fail to see how the people who claim he is a NYC Democrat masquerading as a Republican or the WBTT crowd would ever be satisfied with a couple of small changes

It's a package deal with Trump; if you want a slick political chameleon, vote Harris or O'Rourke or draft Romney

There's a conflict here. And has been for a while now.

Trump did indeed run as a Republican. But he is NOT a Republican. He is 100% a life-long Northeast limousine Liberal Democrat.

And Kut is 100% right with the sentence I quoted. If he'd just quit Twitter he'd be seen in a vastly different light.

I wonder what LBJ's Twitter acct would be full of? Probably generally the same things.

The real conflict is that so many republicans are not Republicans in the truest, most conservative roots of the party. IMO it was easier to vote for the Nationalist who was not a Republican than vote for the other 15 who weren't conservative or couldn't muster the support to get anything done. Like Einstein said "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them."

Look, I voted for Trump and have supported most of his policy initiatives but it would be intellectually dishonest not to admit that Trump has issues that present a certain unnecessary hindrance to his administration.

If you accept the premise that who he is got him where he is today; and further, if you wish to keep him there, then why would you want him to change what is working (for him)

WBTT is no match for BAMN

Moreover, that line of thinking you're replying to shows a decided lack of awareness or understanding of what happened to George W. Bush during his presidency. Bush was the nice guy you claim you wanted, he rarely if ever responded to his critics and was the height of decorum that politicians are supposed to be. The Democrats, both the ones in the Government and those in the media simply made up stuff and used that to destroy him.

It also demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding of Trump and what he is doing. He is using the Democrats own tricks against them and its about damn time someone that is at least nominally a Republican figured that out. As Einstein is credited with suggesting, "doing the same old things and expecting different results is the height of insanity."

Are you talking about W or HW? I'd say it fits HW better than W. Lest you forget, W's criticisms, generally, were all of his own making. HW, now he was raked against the coals.
