    Hello Ingo,

I'm coming here for the years of knowledge and wisdom.
I have a Universal made M1 Carbine. I know it's not the highest quality brand, but it is still fun to shoot. As per Universal usual, the operating slide has a crack in it. Universal had this issue with the slides when they skeletonized them in order to save money on machining, but since there was less material, it made them weaker and more prone to breakage... Which mine has cracked...

I've been attempting to search for a replacement. Numrich hasn't had any for awhile. I've been checking for about a year now. Does anyone know where I could find a new operating slide?
These slides are not interchangeable with GI parts, so that makes it fun...
I did find this website that has some in stock, but I don't know anything about this company, and they don't have any reviews either. garandpartsandmore.com

    Any advice?

Try it out or take yours to a machinest and have it built from scratch. There is a market for them, you might recoup some of your investment if you could sell a few.
For $100 I'd try theirs. It sounds right.
