Not sure if mentioned here…went in for a procedure at community north hospital last week and nobody…patients, admins, docs….was wearing a mask. Asked a nurse and she said they dropped the mandate system wide about 2 weeks ago. Kinda shocked me as I thought medical care orgs would be a permanent holdout. Curious to see if IU health follows suit at some point.

That is very interesting - around here there isn't even a hint that they might drop it... ever.

Thursday I took my dad to see an eye specialist for a check-up. 10300 Illinois St in Indy. Big place. Signs at doors stating masks needed. I walked on thru.

Sat down and Dad decides he needs to move so he can hear when they call for him. Right in front of the reception station.

2 minutes in and some guy says hate to be that dude but you need this mask. I donned it, for Dad's sake I guess. He goes back to see the doc. My glasses are fogging up while I sit idle playing a game on phone. I pull mask below my nose and this woman starts bitching at me from reception. I shook my head and pulled the thing up. All the while watching the people at reception pull theirs down to talk to each other. Saw a couple nurses do the same thing.

I figured that my father was smart enough to find me so I left. Back to my truck. Mask free and enjoying life again.

Once he got back and we were leaving he said his doctor didn't have a mask on the entire time.

People wanting to play with power as much as they can. I won't be going back in which they don't care about.

I think I mentioned this before elsewhere but this reminds me of how much I’ve been disappointed in the medical professionals through all of this. Supposed men/women of science and they follow edicts from government authorities regardless of what the data actually says. SMH.

No kidding. I had discussions with two of my Drs about masks and how silly they were. My neurologist was still wearing one in July when I saw here last, even though her office had dropped the requirement.

My GP gave me the party line. His nurses were less robotic in their beliefs.

It's funny when they drop the mask because, 'well they have to understand me'.

Well, I don't think you understand how masks work, if you pull them down when you are MOST LIKELY to need one.

Not to mention the argument about viruses are NOT germs.

I agree about the medical professionals. My GP still wore a mask last time I saw him. I did not have one on and neither did my spouse. We chatted and all was good. I believe he was forced by his employer to wear it. I didn't bitch and moan because he talks well enough through the mask that I could hear him.

The people in the reception area that I mentioned earlier are definitely NOT medical professionals. If they believed that mask use was needed they would not have removed them to chat amongst themselves and they would have checked the entire lobby area to see all the others who didn't don, or didn't don correctly.

I think they got off on the little extra power they had over the common folk sitting on the other side of the desk.

Thats when you start scolding each and every staffer that pulls the mask down to talk. "Excuse me, put your mask back over your face! You must wear the mast at all times! Karen here said so!" Make sure you point out that you are just echoing what their Karen scolded you for. Gooses and ganders and all that. And if you want to get REALLY snarky, as them if they really know how masks work Given that since talking is supposedly when you need a mask the most, they obviously shouldnt be working in the medical field. Or at least need remedial training.

Its time to be just as obnoxious as they are. Beyond time actually.
EDIT: Just saw where it was someone IN reception, not a reception person. In that case tell them "With all due respect, bite me. You arent the boss of me."

    My bad on comms.

The people causing the problem were the reception crew, or at least two of them.

Again I guess I am a sell out as I put the mask on. Only because I needed my father to see the specialist about his eye. Once I had enough I left. Probably should have just done that to begin with. Hindsight and all that.

Yeah, It's not going to do any good to cause a scene there.
