I ran into a hotel that still has this posted by the elevator. (Marriott as a corporation dropped masking requirements back in... 2021?) It's not applicable, not being followed, not enforced - but nobody bothered to take the sign down. (This is in Madison, WI, which might explain it.)

Funny, the wife and I went to Novi, MI late last year for her great uncle's funeral and that same sign was in the Holiday Inn we stayed at. Also ignored and not enforced.

How comfortable are you sitting next to a person in a mask? I don’t like it mostly because it is possibly a sick person…

There's more to the story? No way!?!

Ya, I’ve been drinking. I’ve been sitting in an airport for three hours. Ya I’m drinking. I ain’t drunk, but they throw me off the plane because I’m drunk, because you people won’t stand up and tell everybody what ******** this is,” he continued. “I just told them I didn’t feel comfortable about sitting next to somebody that had to wear a mask, and I’m off the plane.”

I figure it is a 50-50. 50% chance he was a belligerent drunk, 50% chance he pizzed off the staff just saying he didn’t want to sit there and they used that as an excuse…
If he was making an ass of himself, disobeying the flight attendants, and harassing his seatmate, then they should have kicked him off. Personal beliefs about masking are irrelevant. I've witnessed mask-related belligerence on airplanes/at airports on both sides of the spectrum. It's unwarranted from either end of that spectrum.

I agree. That said no one has video of this disobedience and harassment? My default today is to disbelieve the powers that be until proof is provided. In the last five years it seems attendants have stopped being people pleasers and more like dictators based on limited experience and media reports.

You don’t think it possible to irk some attendants just by asking for a seat reassignment because someone is wearing a mask?
