I go up north of 56th ST all the time. Mainly because my parents live just south of 86th St over by I-65.
I worked (pre-covid) on 56th St.. Now I'm enjoying the 30 second commute from bedroom to computer. Traffic just seems to get nuts up in that northeast quadrant, or really all the way around to the west side to Michigan Rd..

There used to be a place in Fishers called Nancy's Pizza.
They had a few locations there, but closed due to the family getting out of the business.
It's based in Chicago and they made GREAT Chicago Style deep dish pizza which is my favorite type.
You can't put too much cheese on a pizza as far as I'm concerned!

I ALSO give a good word to a little hole in the wall place in Rensselaer, Indiana called Rick's Pizza.
It's a one man operation that's been there for many years, and Rick makes all of the pizzas himself with help with just deliveries and taking orders.
He makes a great hand tossed pizza, and will make it how YOU want it.
    A great guy too.

I always order a pizza with "an insane amount of cheese, and I don't mind paying extra because I'm not a socialist!", with various toppings depending on what I'm in the mood for, and talk politics with Rick while it cooks.

I think, for a lot of people, what you consider a good pizza is greatly influenced by what you grew up with. For me, it was Bruno's in West Lafayette and Arni's in Lafayette. My first experience of a pizza was at Bruno's in the early/mid '60s. My wife and I still consider those two the best. I think Arni's may have started out as a Pizza King, but they upped the game with more sauce, more cheese and more toppings than a normal Pizza King puts on a pizza.

New Albany Pizza King is nothing like Floyd Knobs Arni's pizza. The closest thing to that Arni's was Sir Dano's (now under new management and I haven't been there to try it) north of Sellerburg. But it is definitely a style of pizza that seems to be an Indiana thing.

Rick, of Rick's Pizza in Rensselaer, Indiana started as a kid at Bruno's many years ago and learned the pizza business from Bruno.
I go to Rick's for a pizza whenever I'm in town.
    Great guy, great pizza!

    Arni's is also good.
The main one at Market Square is the best in my opinion, but there are other good locations too.

I think there is one in Lafayette as well. Been planing on going there, just never think of it when I'm there.
I personally don't like their pizza but the Mrs. does. Last I knew there was one on Teal lane across from the fair grounds and another on South 18th street and Veterans Memorial Parkway. They both had the electric train set that brought you drinks.

My dad owned pizza places when I was growing up. In the early 90's, I worked at one in the nasty part of Chicago, Sauk VIllage, and downtown Hammond. That said, no matter how good or nasty a pizza place is, someone owns it and someone worked at it. So being the son of a Pizzamaker doesn't necessarily qualify one as an expert. But I've had quite a bit of good pizza throughout my years. As a Region Rat, here's my list:

My favorite places in Da Region
    Aurelio's in Schererville
    Aurelio's in Cedar Lake
    Giuseppe's in Schererville

Not quite Da Region, but close enough (and worth the drive)
    Barnaby's in South Bend
    Barnaby's in Mishawaka

Nowhere near da Region but about as good as it gets in Indiana
    Turoni's Pizzery in Evansville

Not a big fan of the Pizza kings I've tried, but it seems like they are all a bit different. :dunno: That and drinks delivered by train... I've wanted to set up an outdoor train track around the backyard just for that. One of the larger ones like an O or G scale.

the problem with arni's isn't quality, it's quantity. they skimp on the toppings. you can buy a deluxe pizza from arni's, and one from pizza king, and the pk version will weigh at least 50% more. the only pizza I buy from arni's anymore is their Killer Cajun pizza. which is awesome, especially when you add banana peppers.

Aurellio's in Griffith is HORRIBLE. One time overcooked, then their sauce never taste the same twice.. used to love them. Crown Point is still pretty good.

I've had just the opposite experience. Got a pizza king pepperoni recently and wondered if I ordered a cheese by mistake, since there was hardly any pepperoni on it. This has happened to me many times over the years. Always been happy with the amount of pepperoni Arni's puts on their pizza.
