From Catapillars website the 994H has a 1577 HP engine and can lift 35 tons (77000 lbs) at once.

1577 HP consumes 85 gal/hr @100%throttle but it’s not expected to consistently operate at full throttle & rated load. ( more likely 40-70% of each, I will use 60%)

One Tesla kWh. Battery has about 275 kg of aluminum, which requires 5 tons of the red mineral bauxite. The CAT 994H doesn’t haul the material, only lifts it into the truck. Assuming 30 lifts/ hr it consumes -2g diesel per lift. 1 lift= 21 tons (4.2 Tesla batteries)

Not if you figure trucks for hauling and dozers and graders like in most mines. One implement doesn't do all the work. Add transportation to the battery assembly site and it's probably double the 1000 gallons.

    'This machine'.
The claim is NOT multiple machines used in the process.

The CAT994H holds 1014g of diesel fuel. A nominal 60g/hr consumption rate will permit 16.9 hr of operation, in which it will lift enough bauxite for 2129 Tesla batteries.

1013 g/ 2129 batteries= 0.5g diesel per battery pack. Burning 0.5gal of Dirksen means releasing 12 lbs CO2, or about the same as driving a F-150 13 miles.

But JCSR doesn’t want purple about the Nickel and the copper and the …
Don't forget cobalt there's almost zero emissions coming from the kids digging it. Every tree hugger should be pretty happy about that.

An 85kWh battery contains about 90 kg of nickel, which is present at about 2% of the mineral lanerite, so we need to scoop 90/.02/1000 = 4.5 tons lanerite (about the same as aluminum). So let’s double our previous 12lbs CO2 to 24lbs.

An 85kWh battery has 45 kg of copper, which is present at 0.6% ore. Will need to scoop 45/.0.006/1000 =7.5 tons of ore, bringing our new total to 24+ 18 = 42 lbs CO2.
Same as an F-150 driven about 44 miles

    They won't?
    Sure?
Cause they sure seem to be talking about it.

I don't have a problem people WANTING to buy and EV or Hybrid.
It's the FORCING that I have a problem with.
No one is being forced now. But they are subsidizing EV’s through tax incentives. And I don’t mind if everyone got a $7500 credit. But only people who behave like the government wants gets this one. So that’s my problem with it.

And talking about it isn’t doing it. Yet.
