Just the peas, or as a side dish? I don't think I've ever had them.

That is one of those official New Year's Day things. Down south they believe they will bring you luck or prosperity or something. But it is a side dish for me with the corned beef and cabbage.

I used to make them from dried peas, but the quality you get in the stores now is so inconsistent that I've gone to using canned. I start with the mirepoix and go from there. I like them pretty spicy. Never exactly the same twice. Used to also make a big pot of rice to go with them, but haven't done that in a long time.

I've made corned beef from scratch several times. The homemade kind is a real treat.

For frozen stuff that's pretty good.

Yeah It's not bad. Marie Calendars frozen lasagna is pretty decent as well.. We usually do homemade but in a pinch they are'nt bad.

Like some people eat things just because of a holiday. We don't really like turkey, even though we do celebrate Thanksgiving.

So apparently someone took obiden's advice today and ripped one off in the air at the carwash today.
