We have witnessed an orgy of censorship from Silicon Valley monopolies with calls for far more aggressive speech policing, a visibly militarized Washington, D.C. featuring a non-ironically named “Green Zone,” vows from the incoming president and his key allies for a new anti-domestic terrorism bill, and frequent accusations of “sedition,” “treason,” and “terrorism” against members of Congress and citizens. This is all driven by a radical expansion of the meaning of “incitement to violence.” It is accompanied by viral-on-social-media pleas that one work with the FBI to turn in one’s fellow citizens (See Something, Say Something!) and demands for a new system of domestic surveillance.​

Began a long time ago now they are no longer hiding actions like they were. They feel "protected" now because of the current administration and the MSM propaganda. Better get prepared for a long miserable few years.

Just history repeating itself. Like every other time in history when the ruling class is no longer responsive to the needs of their citizens and those citizens begin to question the first response is to crack down on any and all people who dare question them. They try to silence them through fear and intimidation. It works in the short term but history has shown it never works in the long term. How long this time takes I don't know, probably longer than I will be alive but it will make for an interesting spectacle to watch until then.

Greenwald is one of the bravest men alive. He risked an extremely cushy existence to go to war with the US govt and then again with the Brazilian govt.

He's a hard lefty, but he's maybe the strongest proponent of free speech alive. Glad to see him getting shared here. He's as good as we've got in journalism.

Glenn Greenwald and Camille Paglia are two of my favorite modern-day writers. They are both hard left, but they speak the truth with intensity and conviction.

This already started under little bush and snowballed with obama.

We had a small break with Trump, but that small break is over.

Now we're in the silencing phase, where they try to make sure their opposition has no voice so they can paint their opposition as they please without counter-arguments. It doesn't matter what you do or don't do now, you can be the most law abiding citizen on earth, and you will be treated as a terrorist in the coming years.

Few years? This isn’t going away. They saw Trump, an outsider, win an election and risk derailing their plans and years of work. They did everything they could to get him out of office, even republicans saw their future political careers at stake. They’ll never give up their power, regardless what the people vote for. This election is the beginning of the end. They’ll never let their power slip to another outsider again. They control the colleges, the media, the music, the movies, and the government. Now they’re focused on how to rid the world of people who won’t buy into their lies. They’ve already went as far as saying they’re making lists, they’re going to hunt us to the ends of the country, and they’re moving at laser like speed to figure out how to eradicate the xenophobic, white supremacists that made up the MAGA movement... and we all know they consider anyone who supported trump a white supremacist.
