    Where's the bacon?
 They lost. Get over it.
Though I am sure that's too much to ask.
    Glad I'm not like BigRed.
    You have too many
    syllables in the latter
    lines for a haiku.

I get the idea re: the suspension of habeas corpus and Lincoln not really caring about "saving the Black race", but rather saving the union at any cost.

With that said, I'm not sure if his post belongs more here or in Sad but True, but with no picture, I lean toward here. :lmfao:

After they kicked yankee *** at will for 2 1/2 years

1.39 Union deaths for every Confederate death. The South had superior fighting men and superior tactics
The South had superior generals early on. Lincoln went through several before he could find someone that could/would fight. Then Grant had some successes and rose through the ranks, got Lincoln’s notice. And then the better officers tended to be promoted to the top leadership positions.

At the beginning the experienced, competent generals at the top went home to fight for their confederate states. And that left the north with boot-shiners like McClellan at the top.

It’s not that he was a bad general. He built a great army. He just couldn’t bring himself to use it. And then when they did fight they had idiots in charge. The North had a problem earlier with idiots being promoted above competent officers.

They had to work through all of the career political generals first.

Grant realized the North had vastly superior numbers and just started grinding against the South. He knew they couldn't replace the men like he could.

    .
The smartest man in the room nobody listened to was Winfield Scott. He understood that the war being contemplated would be long, bloody, expensive and primarily driven by logistics. Only Americans would die, only American property would be destroyed and only Americans would pay for all of this mess. It was the greatest failure of leadership by both sides of the question in this country's history.

So, when these "private" security step over the line, who will the people hold accountable?

And, if they are overwhelmed, do the police get to stand back and say, "Sorry. You said we were not welcome"?

We have said many times that police are a reactive, not proactive force. They respond when they are called.

I think if people have made it clear that police are not welcome, then police should not go to help.

Yeah, I know they can't do that, either legally or morally/ethically, but it does seem to me that that would be the appropriate non-response.

    Bill

Well, the problem with "not going when they are not wanted" is.. who gets to decide?
What if my neighbors don't want them, but I do?

I was gonna say essentially the same thing. Someone called the police. Someone wanted them to respond. Should the cops call the people who caused that call to be necessity ask their opinions?

We’re only hearing something similar to a heckler’s veto. Obviously the people committing crimes would rather police stayed out if it.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the police have no duty to protect any particular person or persons, so there you go.

Politician accused her of being an old white guy.
    She was NONE of those.
I am not as savvy as some (meaning I am ignorant of many things).

I do not recognize the picture so a thousand words are missing. (For me at least)

ETA I have been having connectivity problems and the video appeared as a picture, so I found the thousand words when I finally realized it was a video.

PS. I said I am ignorant in many areas.
