By way of background: I read War and Peace in high school.

I have given up on Lord of the Rings 3 times.

Meanwhile I had read all of the Lord of the Rings before the end of 1st grade but literally fell asleep attempting to read the 1st chapter of War and Peace as a high schooler. And I love long, dry, "boring" stories. Also couldn't get into Dune, though I suppose my interest in Warhammer 40K is adjacent enough to kinda-sorta count.
