Thanks to Uncle Sam I was at the pyramids in the late 70's. I was very excited to see them. Pyramids were impressive as well as the museum in Cairo and the other sites.

On the ride there along the Nile river, saw mud huts and thought "Wow! people actually live in those!". Saw a women getting water from the Nile in a teapot.....about 3' from a dead and bloated water buffalo.......

Real wake up for a young American boy.

The Arabs were the most advanced astronomers, mariners and mathematicians until MO ruined them.

ETA @actaeon277 is correct. But i still marvel at the thought of Galileo, Capurnacus and those of great visionthat would freak out at the idea of a cell phone.
