Russia can win a nuclear war...

Having spent my time in the Air Force as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist (we were nicknamed "mushroom farmers) .... there was one thing that we all said, after watching all of the classified films of the results.
We said "the living will envy the dead". It's true. There won't be any winners.

You guys are far wiser than me. Anyone think Putin will actually push the button?
People are all over the place on that question. On one hand, Russia thinks that it needs to regain territory lost since the fall of the Soviet Union to protect itself and with the population decline, it's now or never. Given that mindset, he might just roll the dice to see if a tactical nuke causes the rest of Europe to cave.

On the other hand, he may find a different method of justifying pulling back because he knows that popping a nuke is not going to go well in a normal world.

I worry that he realizes that he either has to and go for broke, or, back down and get hung by his own people for the debacle this has become.

    Hey Rusty Hornet !

This is what I'm working on .... for you ! I've found the original box, owners manual, a brand new strap (which I installed), a download cable, and (1) battery pack.
I found, and installed a 35 mm lens ... Canon EF, an autofocus lens, made in Japan. This will give you a 'standard view' on a crop sensor camera. In other words, it's probably the most versatile lens, for a wide variety of subjects..
    There's
only one thing missing that you'll need .... but it's important. That's the battery charger. I'll keep looking for it !

The photo (below) was taken with this camera in 2009. For this photo, I was using a telephoto lens to take a snap of this sparrow at my birdbath.
It's still one of my favorite bird photos ... and shows what the camera is capable of. :)

    IMG_1613-L.jpg

Here's the EXIF data from the above photo ..... proof = puddin' ! :alright:
    CameraCanon EOS 50D
    LensCanon EF400mm f/5.6L USM
    Focal Length400.0 mm (633.8 mm in 35mm)
    Aperturef/7.1
    Exposure Time0.002s (1/500)
    ISO800
    Date Taken2009-07-13 17:31:39
    Date Modified2009-07-13 17:31:39

And actually, even if I find the charger, there's no guarantee that the battery will take, and hold a charge.
I'm certain that the battery pack (and charger) are still available .... probably from a 3rd party manufacturer. A few years ago, I was able to buy (2) batteries and a dual-charger for about $40 ..... so we're not dead in the water !
My old 40D still charges and holds the charge just fine. Something newfangled like that 50D is sure to be fine

Agreed. He's kind of played his conventional cards and shown Russia isn't what many thought they were. He may be desperate enough to try and preserve the illusion in non conventional ways now.

I think its unlikely. Those people making sure he stays in power are driven by money. The complete destruction of the Russian export economy for a generation or more will not be tolerated.

    Always follow the money.

Honestly, I thought Russia would walk through the country before the West had a chance to re-supply Ukraine. Now its a war of attrition and Zelinsky seems to be holding his country together.

I'd rather we spend $400 billion in aid to Ukraine than student loan forgiveness....(sorry if you are a benefactor but after paying for four college degrees - that's just how I feel about it).

I appreciate the responses, let's hope it doesn't come to that, but be prepared in case it does. Sorry to derail and doom the thread. :)
Yea.....we sure don't want to get off topic around here. LOL!

Hey...thanks again for the delivery. Did you explain to your wife why it was pantless? She seemed a little taken aback.
