THIS THING IS COOL AS HELL!!!

    H&R 929 before cleaning pics

Starting just inside the muzzle end and working way up. Barrel starts to get shinier about 1" or so from the forcing cone (breech end). A good portion of the barrel looks dull and flaky (kinda like me?).

Nice inspection t-dogg! A couple years ago I was fighting with my Remington 700 in .270. It just would not group well. It also would not clean up not matter how much I cleaned it. I got a bore scope (maybe the same one, I don’t remember the brand). I found chatter marks all the way down the bore and somehow the throat was cut wrong. Each land started at a different length/depth down the bore! The barrel was trash. At least it gave me closure and I stopped wasting time trying to make it better.

    In the country, hopefully.
H&R 922 (good barrel) for comparison. The bore seems "brighter" on this one and more definitive tooling marks.

Full of some crazy looking markings throughout (crop circles, ancient egyptian markings, japanese symbols?). But hey, it's a shooter so who cares.

If those barrels were switched one might be inclined to blame the crazy markings roughness on the poor accuracy.
Things aren’t always as they seem.

Used Chore Boy to clean up the inside of the barrel on this Aston. Hunting for a round ball mold I can use for it. Remarkably good shape for a nearly 180 year old gun, but they are rather robustly constructed. I'll be curious to see how accurate it is.

Ok. I can’t handle it anymore.

I’m going to have dive into black powder.

There may be a little lead but I'm not seeing anything that makes me think "keyhole".
Here is after the first cleaning I just did. I see improvement, but I guess I was expecting large chunks or long strips of lead to come out and did not see that. I can definitely see more definitive tooling marks now and it looks brighter too.

Not into BP heavily but I'm partial to the 1859 Remington New Action Army 44. I like how easily the cylinder comes out and the rear sight in the frame instead of on the hammer. To each their own I guess.
