    Morning folks.

Took the day off yesterday and went to the casino with my older brother. Had a good time and won a small amount of cash (not enough to retire).

That was a brief stint of good luck. My bad luck continues though. Went to use the A/C in the car and discovered the Subaru dealer didn't recharge my system when they did the timing cover seal, which explains why my A/C compressor was unplugged and my service port caps were missing. The car is being dropped off to them this morning and I will be having a thorough conversation with the Service Manager about the list of issues I found after the repair and the level of disappointment I have with them. Not very happy right now.

How could they forget that? We check everything before a car leaves our shop. Especially if it's a system we worked with from the wreck. Heat, A/C, lights, dash warning lights, automatic door, parking sensors, cruise control alerts, etc.

Those darn stealers. Sorry that happened.

Some of you know, but I used to turn a wrench for a living years ago and I know mistakes happen, we are human. But, they also left an oily mess underneath the car and on the exhaust, didn't burp the air out of the coolant system, which left my reservoir empty and my upper radiator hose sucked flat. I took care of all that on my own at home and was going to let them know about it this week but kept forgetting. When I went to use the A/C yesterday for the first time and realized it wasn't cold at all, that's when I made a call to the dealer.

I normally do 100% of my own repairs, but Subaru of America covered this repair out of goodwill since my powertrain warranty was expired by 15 days.

Once again I'm reminded why I fix my own stuff and don't trust most people.

Sorry to hear that TD. I tend to do what work that I can because of trust issues. There are good people out there and when you find them, hold onto them because everything else is a crapshoot

Sorry to hear about the problems TD, but on the good side now I know where I'm going to take my cars for future maintenance since it appears you do excellent work! Too soon?

Unboxed 60 years of stamp collection as well as other stuff at the assisted living place. More to do tomorrow.

I know nothing about stamp collecting, but know that stamps have value. How do you get something like that appraised or sell it?

Stingrays from the 60s! One of those things I wanted as a kid, but bicycles and gravel roads don't play well together.

Had an ac compressor grenade under warranty back in the 80s so the dealership had to replace everything in the system. In the process of that they removed the radiator, but did not reconnect the cooling lines after the install. I didn't get far down the road before it quit.

The brake pads for my wife's vehicle came in. I might put them on this evening when I get home. I would rather not use my weekend time doing it.

Working on the book or a basic timed pay system that you can cheat and stack hours.
The line mechanics I knew in the day would bill a minimum of 12 hours in an 8 hour day.

That cost them a tow and a less than pleasant reminder from me that the car could have quit in the middle of an intersection. I did love that car though, wish I had kept it.
