    Got the deck power washed today while listening to the race on my noise cancelling headphones. No hammock but pretty comfortable place to enjoy some fresh air and an adult beverage. Deck is 18 years old and gets power washed yearly. No other maintenance. I have done a few dumb things and given it a scar or 2 but have never had a deck this maintenance free. It was a pain to build and I thought too expensive at the time but to me Trex has been well worth it.

    Now showered and ready for some beer and chilling.

    My usual car project was replaced with the family room ceiling project. It's installed and just needs a finish now.

    I'm heading for the shower now too

    Had a pretty good day yesterday. Buddy of mine has owned a gun for years, but never felt the need to carry. Lately he's been talking about wanting to and I convinced him to take a carry class with me. The class wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped, but it did have some good information and was worth the $20 we paid for it. Afterwards we shot at the range and had a nice long discussion about carrying which I think gave him a lot more info to think about. Ended up over at Scarlet Lane in BG for a very nice IPA and pizza and more conversation. The drive back home was fantastic with all the windows and moonroof open. Just a pleasant day all around.

    Good morning :coffee:

    I hope everyone has a blessed Memorial Day. Thank You to all of you who served or are serving. And to those who gave all, “Thank You” isn’t enough. My heart is with all my friends who lost friends or family defending our freedom.

    Happy Memorial Day!!! CZers….take time to reflect for family members that died to protect and preserve our freedoms. :patriot: :patriot:

    2 flag bearers for the 2 great uncles I never met. Both died on Omaha beach. :patriot::patriot:

    My great uncle Fred would have been there too, because they all joined together. Fred had office and management skills. US Army kept him in Long Island to process supplies going for D-Day. It was too late for him to train for D-Day, so they sent him to Italy an almost a year before D-Day…:scratch::scratch:. He ended up being a forward observer with a Captain. Calling down 155s on the Krauts. He never talked about it especially to his kids. When I got back from combat in Iraq, it was a generational “band of brothers”. He shared stories from one ground pounder to another ground pounder. I wish I would have recorded the conversation. When he moved to the parade ground in the sky, his kids displayed a lot of his military relics and Italian trinkets I had never seen, but I knew the stories that went with them. :patriot:

    So take a moment to reflect on those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation….
    Freedom is not free….:patriot::patriot::patriot:

    Morning everyone. Happy Memorial Day! I'll be raising a glass in memory or two uncles I wish I could have known today. One died while strafing a German airfield in France in April '44. The other was wounded in the battle of the Hurtgen Forest, returned to his unit in Jan '45, and was killed at the Remagen Bridge battle in March.

    My oldest son, who flies commercially, has a strong resemblance to my uncle, the P38 pilot, and coincidentally, shares the same name.

    This day is in honor of them and the thousands of others that gave all for this country

    Luckily I have no family memebers that aren’t with us today, but there is three of us that don’t know how we made it. So today is for the ones that didn’t make it. Closest to my heart are
    LCpl Steven “stainless” Hancock and
    LtCol Brett “Stork” Hart.
    The guy I trained and mentored (my AO/ Gunner) and the guy that mentored me for 4 years (my CO and TAC).

    There are other who’s sacrifice was never less, and are to never be forgotten. These two still hit me daily. Fair winds and following seas gentlemen.
