Oh please. I've worked in the military and training military folks from all services for decades. You make sure there are preparations in place before deploying. Even in rough deployments the troops would have sleeping gear of some sort...certainly facilities to take care of the call of nature and avoid spreading disease; it's not like you could dig latrines in DC.

These folks weren't deploying into a shooting war, they were deploying to protect a ceremony and diner party for a senile socialist chinese sock puppet.

And of course the Marines wouldn't complain. Why do they call the Jar Heads? Hold them up to the light and you can see right through. (insert inter-service rivalry joke disclaimer here)
I keep thinking about deployment planning, execution, and re-deployment. There are not a few, but several people who need to be fired.

It's not like we haven't been deploying forces all over the globe for over 30 years. Where are you going? What is the mission? What's already there (AKA pre-positioned WRM/war reserve materiel/equipment/facilities) and who is already there? What's not there you've got to ship. How long does it take to get there? Back up the timeline that many days.

This ain't rocket surgery, but if you don't follow these steps you end up with the Charlie Foxtrot we saw in DC.

Logistics is always two steps behind if there isn't a general demanding a golf course and 5 star accomodations, martinis at lunch and 25 year old single malt in the evenings...

It's that 'Ideal' vs real world thing again.

I'm sure they were housed inside the building to keep street profile down, another mistake in my opinion.

The country needs to know how extreme, how important this is.
Damn the foreign press, Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Etc already have their pictures & sound bites for propaganda, it's the thick headed Americans that might not have drank the kool-aid that need to understand the importance of this.

It's up to every person to decide if they are going to support, or try to scrap, the Constitution.
I took an oath, I stick by that oath.

I figured this out in the 80s with Reagan, spent the last 25 years digging in.
You ARE NOT an American when you call for violence, repeat the propaganda/conspiracy theories, carry around NAZI & Rebel flags, etc.
    We fought wars over this...

You post something that makes a bit of sense, and I start to think maybe he's reasonable and I've just misunderstood your point of view. Then you post something like this.

As far as being in the Nation's Capitol and not in an AOR with operational command under a Unified Combatant Command Commander... the empty hotels wouldn't meet the government lodging rate and a tent city would be bad optics?
I would rather see a true military encampment, then soldiers having to sack out on marble floors.

You're way off the mark, Sylvain. When forward deployed, they live in rough conditions because there are no better alternatives. When deployed in the heart of a first world country, it isn't that better conditions aren't available it is that their chain of command just doesn't care enough to find some. a/cPut 'em up in some suburban Motel 6 or Super 8 for God's sake and convoy them in and out if that's what it takes. They could sure find a budget for bunting and decorations and to have live music. If security was so crucial, you'd think they'd want them rested and sharp - unless they're just another prop
My sentiments exactly. When my daughter was in Iraq three years ago on an FOB, she lived in an a/c tent, slept on a cot, had access to 4 meals a day, Starbucks coffee, 24 hr electricity and I could talk to her on her US based cell phone daily.

I might have some experience in this area. Regular Army units are self contained. Think of a lego set you piece together what you need for a mission.
    Quartering party operations https://rdl.train.army.mil/catalog-...E4-AD60-B43F1ADB596D-1361390175336/report.pdf

If you need water add a Water unit need electricity add a power generation unit.

The National Guard was piecemeal deployed without logistics in place.

This was and is a logistical failure Soldiers need certain things on a human level.
    1. Water
    2. Food
    3. Latrines
    4. Safe place to sleep
    5. Mail
    6. Money
    7. Personnel Actions

    Bottom line
A military action is equally dependent on logistics as it is on war fighting.

She was also on an established base.

First Gulf War, soldiers were shipped with rifles and ammo.
    Supplies were shipped later.
Troops bought big tents from the Bedouin, and had to figure out how to set them up.

once again I say just because we once had a **** show of logistics and living conditions is no justification for having it now.........

next person who thinks about posting some **** like this again needs to stop, go to the nearest national guard armory and go in person to tell these young men and women how good they have it. Make sure to use the phrase “back in my day”. Lemme know how much better the morale is after you tell them.

Planning Propperly Prevents P*** Poor Performance.

The DC debacle is the result of p*** Poor performance.

Total lack of leadership from the top down.

Where were the colonels, majors, captains and other officers sleeping.

During my service some of the first things I learned were, "Lead by example" and "I am the Infantry follow me."

Just to be clear, post **** like what I posted?

Because I posted that troops shouldn't be left abandoned in a parking garage.
And I just want to see if that's considered "****"

Honestly. Who could stay mad if they brought cookies?

Oh, wait, the picture shows a tray of cookies. I doubt that tray fed all 5,000 soldiers that were forced into the garage. Just a photo op for the media.

We get it, you hate the constitution.

No need to muck up the entire page of the thread with images making it clear how much you disagree with it.

I always heard it was "Proper Prior Planning Prevents P*** Poor Performance". The Seven P's.

This was definitely a result of failure to do proper prior planning.

Yes she was. My point is that these aren't combat troops being inserted into hostile territory on some insurgent mission or offensive.

These troops were activated to provide security. They should have been properly housed. Whether it was a temporary encampment on the National Mall or hotel rooms.
