See, I thought about that but figured it was outside the rules of the game. Sure, you have a crossbow but it's no good without bolts, so no way to play within "1 item" rules. Else our one item can be a backpack full of stuff, right?

Now, if a fellow knew how to use an old school sling...

Used one as a kid. Expect I'm kinda rusty but I bet it would come back to me.

If it was good enough for David with a little divine guidance, it'll do for me.

Hand grenade - it can take out the knife wielding med kit stealers, and then provide you with their knives and damaged med kits. Also, it has a MUCH LARGER reach than a hatchet

You all lose for following rules(come on the **** just hit the fan there are no rules).
I will have my EDC plus grab the Volt 60L backpack going out the door(it is always ready to go hiking). I will have shelter,food(9 days worth+snacks),clothing, firearms, raingear, navigation, even nice dry socks, hygiene items, camp shoes(water shoes),nice warm sleeping bag, headlamps(two),and even a towel. It worked for 6 months from Georgia to Maine. If the **** just hit the fan and for some reason I have to leave my house on foot(highly unlikely) I am not leaving it.

If the real question was what survival item will help keep you alive, the answer for me would be knowledge, followed by a knife(as a very useful tool to help). Without the knowledge nothing you take will make the least bit of difference.

I would also be in for an INGO campout. There are many kinds of camping. Are we talking car or backpacking in? If car I can glamp with the best of them,if hiking I would be as well.
