Finally received an answer from the transfer shop. I've cut and pasted the entire response below minus my name and the gun shops name. The fee went up to $150 now for the transfer and the other $25 is now for Silencer Shop since I used their kiosk I guess.

Good morning XXXXX and thank you for your email, the price is your quoting are for regular transfer fees not NFA items, our NFA transfer fees are 150 this year +25 which is a silencer shop processing fee, any more questions feel free to ask. Also, There are no transfer fees if you purchase the NFA item through XXXXX FYI.

That seems ridiculously high even if you bought from another shop and transferred to this one. I've seen some places do up to like $75 as a transfer fee for NFA items, just like they do $20-30 for transfer of regular guns, but $150 is stupid.

So is he saying that the $125 + $25 you were quoted was in error because that is just their normal/non NFA item transfer fee and the $150 + $25 is the corrected fee for an NFA item? If so, A) that's crazy for a non NFA item and B) sounds like he's just pounding you harder for questioning the fee as they clearly remembered to add the $25 extra for the kiosk the first time, and C) if they misquoted you the first time and they are already breaking it off in you, they could at least honor the misquote... Not like he's losing any money on that.

Is there any way to have it shipped somewhere else at this point? If not, I guess they know there isn't a lot of recourse.

Once you get this all squared up, it would be good to know the shop. Not to bash, but just to be aware.

Well, all I can add to this conversation is that with the 7 suppressors I have purchased, I have never paid any more than the "standard" long gun transfer fee at any of the LGS I have used, normally $20 or $25, and if bought through Silencer Shop, which a few were, there was no transfer fee when delivered to a Silencer Shop "dealer".
I'm sorry to say this, but I think you are getting hosed.

Seeing your location is Noblesville, Let me recommend M and J firearms in Fortville for your next purchase. He is a silencer shop preferred dealer and I've never paid any fees to him for a Silencershop order.

This is my first suppressor and there is a learning curve. I’m fortunate in that my job and position in life affords me the luxury of not worrying about money, but with that said I’m a tight ass. If everyone else said hay that’s the normal fee I would have paid it already. Seems to me that $150 is at least double what others have paid and I appreciate everyone’s contribution to the thread. But I have an issue with some anonymous keyboard warrior like him rattling uncalled for BS off on a message board that he would never say to me or anyone else face to face.
Yeah, well, I'm pretty sure more than one of us would say it to your face and your thin skin is just egging the rest of us on.

Lighten up, Frances. His point is valid. If you don't have to worry about money, just hush and don't worry about the money.

Thank you. I end up in Fortville fairly often. I will check them out next time I’m in town.

Thanks for the information. I’m going to compile these responses and get them to the store and see what they say.

We're nowhere close to war, Frances. But you're not getting the picture when it has been presented with subtlety and good humor. Please be aware that I've spared your tender sensibilities further devastation. A word to the wise should be sufficient. Yes, you're getting taken on the transfer fee. Could be it's your own fault for not doing the research going in. Could be you let slip to the transfer agent that money was no object. Perhaps?
I'm trying to be nice to you. I am sorry you are out those $ but having a hard time caring deeply after the info you gave us.
Please, be well and prosper.

If you buy something from their store from their inventory and they charge you a transfer fee they are crooks and would never buy from them ever again. If I could cancel the sale if I could. I would post the name of the shop and tell everyone not to do business with them.
$125 for a transfer for an item from another dealer is high. My guy would charge $50 sometimes $25. When trying to find a place to transfer an item ask others who they have had good experiences with also call around and ask how much they charge.
If the agreed on price was $125 and he decided to ad the extra $25 tell him you agreed it was $125. Either way never use him, post his business on forums and explain his crook like behavior. Tell everyone you know that they never want to do business with him.
I had class 1 FFL I used to do transfers. He changed price on me and lost a lot of potential and previous customers. Business owners who try to screw over people don’t deserve to have customers
