DId a quick search here and couldnt find any recommendations.
Looking for a recommended pencil barrel for my HD rifle. (AR-15) Ideas? I typically shoot 55gr out of it. But would like to be able to shoot heavier stuff eventually. So 1:8?
Ballistic advantage has a "Hanson" profile barrel 1:8 w/ .625 gas block its really light. I have it in one of my rifles it's pretty accurate. It's crazy how you can push the muzzle to one side and the barrel will almost touch the handguard.
Heard good things about Faxons gunner profile also.
My 1-8 barrel likes 75gr and if you find the right bullet it will shoot 55 and 62 grain 1.5 moa. 75gr it gets sub moa probably much more accurate than I can shoot.
It's not a pencil but maybe consider the faxon gunner , lighter than a gov but thicker where it needs to be than a pencil for heat disbursement and 1/8 twist
I have it in a 14.5 i built to be fairly light and really like it so far
Maybe I just had a good one, but I had a Palmetto pencil barrel that shot pretty well with better factory ammo? Possibly as good as needed for what the pencil barrel is important for?
I'd probably take that risk again, if I was buying new and the Palmetto was on sale. Otherwise, I'd throw up a WTB add for a premium brand pencil barrel used.
Often WTB adds will generate new adds to the parts and accessories section of the classies that might not have been there otherwise.
