The surface temp at Monroe was 60 to 61 degrees on Wednesday, before the storms. That means the wipers are running or will be running soon at night by the dam. I'd guess the crappie are getting close and should start biting soon, if not already doing so. I saw some kids catching some bluegill from the shore by the Cutright boat ramp Wednesday evening, too.

I've only talked to one person who has fished it and he told me the fishing was crummy.

    yep...
    you don't have a clue
as I remember the're all down by the dam.... wink wink.....

the area south of the bridge near East shore has shoreline stumps and shallow flats that schools feed.

from a boat you can catch a fish each cast with white or yellow jigs.
Not sure about land access though.

Most of the 24 were around hand sized. A few smaller, some larger.

Appreciate the info, I may have to make time to get my little boat in the water.

    The bridge is Carrigan rd.
and East shore we fished is about 200 to 400 yards South of cove that has (had?) a small island.
Just short distance from boat launch @ Carrigan rd.
You can also check bait shops for best times & minnows work very well set below a bobber @ proper depth by trial & error.

Went back to Lake Monroe last night with my son. My brother and nephew also fished from their boat. We each got a nice wiper! They were 7.25 to 7.75 pounds! WOW do they fight! I had another nice one on my line but he shook the lure by the boat. Anyway, it wa sa great time and we'll be frying up some nice fillets tonight!

I love ripping lipless rattle baits. Personal favorites these days are 3/4 oz Booyah Hard Knockers.

Lol, me too! I've probably got 5 or so makes, from Rapala to Bass Pro house brand to Walmart's house brand, which are only 2 bucks. They catch anything! We like to go to Raccoon Lake in the heat of summer and throw them into white bass that are forcing schooling shad to the surface. We catch the heck out of the white bass, occasionally getting two on one lure! My boy caught a decent crappie last week on one, too.

Best day of bass fishing ever for me. 7 bass for 16 lbs. 4.25lbs was the biggest a couple 3 lbs and a couple dinks. Just wow...
Gave an older gentleman i met a spare z man jackhammer of which i was using. He wants to meet up to fish and give me a homemade lure off his lathe. Such a good day, i am thankful for this

We cooked up the wiper fillets and fried them tonight in Andy's Red fish batter! Yum! Next time we're going to spice it up with Andy's Cajun fish batter!

It's nice to whack em every now and then. I had a great day Saturday, 8 keepers. Usually if I can catch 3 or 4 keepers I call it a good day catching instead of good day fishing.
