I just picked up a couple of mint condition Colt Ace 22 cal.
Would you recommend running a shock buff on the guide rod to keep the wear to a minimum. I run them on all the other calibers that I shoot. I guess it couldn't hurt anything. As far I know it only helps absorb some of the recoil from the slide coming back to battery. I don't think it would affect the cycle or case ejection.

I wouldn't put a shock-buff in a .22 but in a steel or aluminum frame, center-fire pistol, I think they're great. Yes, you need to change them periodically but that's just maintanence...like cleaning your pistol.

I have a CQB that's over 20 years old and the rails are almost pristine except for the finish being worn off. It wasn't a 'safe queen'
