All guns coming into a show need to be unloaded (completely). They will zip tie your EDC's chamber open so there is no way for it to be loaded. You can't bring in any loaded mags (I think).
So basically a gun show is somewhat defenseless.
I wonder how many carry their edc without announcing it at the entrance?
The only gunshows I attended is Friendship, Madison, Seymour.

There are usually somewhere around half a dozen armed police officers who are providing security. Sometimes more. This is for the one at the State Fairgrounds, not sure about smaller ones. It's extremely irritating to basically be disarmed to have to attend the show. Look at the NRA convention. They've been here twice in the last few years, have many more attendees and they allow everyone to carry without incident.

I'm wondering if it's something to do with insurance?

I'm pretty sure many at the show are concealed carrying.
    I'd bet on it.

    BUT.
If you're going to sell a gun there, unload it before going.
Present it for them to inspect.
    They zip tie it.
    Carry around to sell.

I took a revolver in to look for grips. Easier to buy there where I can make sure they fit, than to order it online, or even go to a gun store and unwrap the plastic.
It was unloaded, and I even zip tied it before going in.
Officer said, he might as well not zip tie it, my zip tie was better.

At the NRA shows, you are not selling your gun there, and signs tell everyone to keep it holstered.
Shouldn't have to tell them, but...
Anyway, unfortunately at a gun store, people would be 'whipping it out' to sell, and too many morons wouldn't have it unloaded.
So yes, you are paying for the sins of others.

Just like the idiot in my example that brought in the loaded gun.

I carry my gun at gun stores.. holstered.
But if I'm selling it, or need something for it, it is unloaded and in a carry case BEFORE I go in.
Another gun substitutes for my EDC on my hip
