SELF-PROTECTION: Is a state of mind, its a concept of more proactive and less reactive it encompasses the whole being and influences everything from your wardrobe to social interactions, it is a filter through which we should look at everything from our financial to our physical well being. It is a lifestyle moving about , performing one's daily tasks in condition yellow which is a good indication of a pretective mindset rather than a defensive one , situational awareness is the bedrock that sound protection is built on. An understanding of what one's limitations(both physical and moral ) are is also necessary and very important. If you truly can;t envison yourself taking a life under any circumstance, then you must tailor your force options accordingly . SELF-DEFENSE: Is a completely and reactionary tool , a defense to an attack that caugth you unaware and offguard, as in someone walking up to you for no reason and striking out at you with thier fist and you respond by blocking that punch ,sidestepping or trying to restrian them or striking back, catching you offguard means you where not at the ready and not in condition yellow, if so you would have seen this acttacker coming . self-defense is what you learn in a karate class, it is a physical reaction to a physical action.
