Now is the time to start bringing any and all lawsuits against gun control. Something is bound to end up in front of the Supreme Court. It's about time states get smacked down for laws that require "justification" in order to exercise a Constitutionally protected right.

the state requires the law-abiding citizen with no criminal record to show “good and substantial reason” for wanting to carry a gun on his person.

The lawsuit filed by SAF, FPC, and the rest of the Plaintiffs seizes on this regulation, noting that it greatly limits the number of concealed carry permits that would otherwise be issued, were the threshold that of being law-abiding and having no criminal record.

The Plaintiffs argue, “The State of Maryland has criminalized the carrying of handguns by ordinary citizens, making it wholly unlawful for law-abiding citizens to exercise their fundamental right to bear arms in public for self-defense without first satisfying the State that they have a ‘good and substantial reason’ to do so.”

Good deal! The only way Illinois got lawful concealed carry was through the court system. Can't remember the Judge's name on the 5th circuit court of appeals but IIRC he was not a fan of carrying guns in public but ruled on his interputation of the constitution. Basicly he said the state could not prevent citizens from self protection outside the home.
Also IIRC the state of Illinois wanted to go to the Supreme Court but got pressure from other states such as Maryland and New York because they were afraid it would set nationwide precedent. Jim.
