Inflation is the oversupply of money, for the amount of goods available.

So, injecting more "created" money into the economy, increases inflation.
If you keep goods at the same level, and double the amount of money, then the costs of everything goes up.

If you keep the money at the same level, and halve (is it half? or halve?) the amount of goods, then the costs of everything goes up.

And then our government, locked many/most people away from producing at their jobs, which reduces goods. Which produces inflation.
Then, they paid people to NOT produce, which added more money per amount of goods, which added to inflation.
They literally worked the top AND bottom of a fraction.
Double the top of a fraction, and then half the bottom of a fraction, and the effect is not double. It quadruples.
So, they hit both sides of the inflation.
And then said... it was an effect they could NOT foresee.
Cause you know that 8th grade education that caused MANY people to predict, somehow the economy eggheads thought that because they WISHED it to be untrue, in fact was true.

Independent Chinese and Mexican restaurants for the most part can be some of the cheapest places to eat. It's interesting how certain styles of restaurants basically chose to compete on one end of the price spectrum, while places that serve Thai food for example usually aren't as cheap as Chinese food.

Anyone guess what pumping all THIS money into the economy will do?
    Raise or lower inflation?

For the deal, expect increasingly more automation.

I'll just make a note here...When centralizers attempt to mandate the market, the market often responds with a "**** you".

"Minimum wage" laws are pure hell.

Our "society" continues to march down a path where people are priced out of learning basic introductory work skills and increasing their "dependency" disposition. It is a win for state. It is a rape of Liberty.

Nuh uh, they told me on the tv that inflation was way down! Stop choosing such specific things like food, fuel, and housing! Real indicators are things like a movie ticket or a tv price. Maybe even a car rental. Things everyone regularly uses!

Read in the WSJ over a month ago that in preparation for the wage hike, fast food places were firing workers.

    Indeed.

When state uses force to set the cost of labor beyond the market, the market does what markets do.

The impact will be broader as entry level jobs become more scarce and workers have reduced opportunities to enter the work force and "learn how to become effective workers" along with other skills. This will increase dependency and provide state a crack in which to expand its overreach.

Would you like fries with that, comrade?

Maybe going out to eat will return to being a once in a while treat, rather than a way out of the effort required to plan and cook meals? And generally plan ahead more than 30 minutes, which many people have a problem with these days.

Inflation being down doesn't mean deflation. It just means things get more expensive more slowly.

As long as people will pay it, they'll charge it. I was honestly surprised Uber Eats became a thing, given how expensive it is in relation to the meal being delivered, but I was obviously wrong. People are paying it.

This is because we elect politicians who simply can't look ahead at cause and effect before they pass legislation. This is nothing new. They used to say elect the smartest people and send them to Washington and get things straightened out, when if fact we have been doing exactly the opposite.

We have the dumbest pack of A**h**es running this country since Reagan than ever before.

People here are just simply lazy.
Now we don't prepare our meals, we don't even go in the fast food joint to buy it, going thru the drive thru, but now we can't even do that, we have our Wendy's delivered to us.

My brother in Florida does Door Dash as a side gig, and the stories he tells are hilarious.

As democracy is perfected, the office of President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I guess I should have written it in purple. Though I thought the last sentence or two was pretty blatant.

Admittedly a bit late to this Thread, but here's my 2 cents:
Hate to "Eat Out" for a number of reasons.
    1) Don't like the idea of Strangers preparing & serving My Food
    2) It's becoming more & more Cost Ineffective
    3) Me & My Better Half are Good Cooks!
We Do celebrate from time to time, by Eating out-but it's turning into Only a Special Occasions thing.
