So, any opinions on Trumps new social media website? I don't believe it has launched yet but I have pre-registered for it.

I've got a feeling that it might put the hurt to other social media websites.
It will be interesting to see what happens. Popcorn anyone?

Depends. Is it another Parler? I hope it has some success, but it'll depend on what content he plans to host. Will it be like FB or YT? That would have better success IMO than another Twitter clone, but I guess we'll see... :dunno:

Knowing Trump my guess will be a Twitter clone but with spell checking (covfefe anyone?) and everyone is subscribed to his feed with no way to opt out. The problem with a personality-based social media site is it'll become an echo chamber with no real debate and simply reinforce users' preconceptions. That's already the problem with Facebook as their algorithms prioritize posts and ads that reinforce your preconceptions and biases which is why everyone believes they are part of the majority because everyone they know and follow already agrees with them.

I'm not at all sure but I suspect Parler was overwhelmed with sign-ups and it crashed the system.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if Big Tech was behind it.

Parler ran on someone elses servers, Amazon Web Hosting I believe, and Bezos et al pulled the rug out from under them just as they reached critical mass. At the time they were taken down they were the number one app download

You don't understand the implications of what you ask for.

The entire social internet--including INGO--would be shut down.
At this point that may not be a bad thing.

the issue with 230 is the lack of a requirement to not sensor any speech by having a stiff punishment if they do.

Just so you understand CJ this was as much to protect you as well as others that don’t agree.
We do not have 230 protections in Ingo but we will DW Civil. I want everyone to have a voice. It’s how we us those voices that matter. If we are not open to different views and ideas what’s the use.

CM just posted that he was watching us and for us to simmer down the tone, that I was likely guilty of escalating myself. He was not censoring viewpoint…

The Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service is in the Uniformed Services, NOT the Armed Forces (AKA the Military.)

The Blue-ID in my wallet says "Uniformed Services", not "Armed Forces" because I'm retired. PHS IDs say Uniformed Services because they ain't the Military.

No Enlisted Corps: they ain't the Military.

Dress like the Navy, not actually the Navy.

Admiral... not sure why they borrowed the Navy's rank structure. After all, they ain't the Military.
Police departments borrow military ranks as well. Not sure about Fire Depts overall. Some do.

I believe INGO does have 230 protections. If someone says something illegal here the owner is not responsible for that.
Right, but I think they cannot block the posting of material that is not illegal or offensive (pornography, etc.), just because it presents an unpopular viewpoint. For example they can't block something just because the source is Salon, or Vice (or Gateway Pundit, etc. on the other end of the spectrum). Maybe I'm not understanding it correctly, but that was my impression.

If they want to limit opinions (again, not illegal stuff), then they are no longer a content provider and have then become a publisher.

Sorry, I was not trying to imply censorship. I was just meaning to point out why I was not going to answer.
