Is there such a thing? I like doubles because they offer more than one shot and, if the shell itself is good, they will go bang. I dislike doubles for only one reason...good ones are too expensive for my budget. Does anyone know of a decent semi-auto in the sub $1000 range that will reliably cycle light 2 3/4" 7/8 oz field and target loads? I've had 1100's that wouldn't do it. (Long story but that 1100 is the reason I have refused to buy anything with the Remington name on it since) I've had Weatherby's (Older Japan made) that wouldn't do it. Any recommendations?

Ok. Stick with me here....Stoeger 3500.

We have two of them. They will reliable cycle anything. Now for the first 500 plus or so rounds, neither one liked 1 1/8th target loads but once it broke it a bit, they have been solid runners for the price.

Cant comment on reliability with 7/8 loads. Thats a light 12. You might have to make a spring adjustment? No idea.

Thanks for the reply. That enforces similar info found on YT videos.

Remington 1100 2 3/4" GUN. Remington 1187(2 3/4", 3" gun) , Beretta 1200F (Inerta gun, hence easy to clean). Beretta A300. Beretta 303. Beretta 391. (The 300 series Beretta's take more time to clean than i like to spend.

The High Standard 10B has been a reliable performer for me over the years. I does have to be fed powerful ammo though.

Another vote for the Stoeger 3000. Mine eats everything from 2 3/4" trap loads to heavy 3" turkey loads without problems. It even functions fine in sub-zero temps... IMG_2903.jpg

To the Stoeger lovers. I've had a couple. I liked shooting them. The inertia system they have works good. I just don't have the patience to take them apart to clean them. They have 50% more parts than any Benelli for example. I shoot my shotguns allot so the cleaning aspect is important. Do we have any INGO members with a Beretta 1200, who will sell it? Please let me know.

My Benelli SBE eats everything. Look for an older version, it's a great shotgun. I attached a link to a version II and it is close to your limit. I would think that a version I like mine would be slightly lower yet.

Another vote for the SBE from Benelli. I have put a lot of light game loads through it under very rough field conditions and it has performed flawlessly. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
