So I’ve been doing a resto on two lots of parts to make one useable shotgun. I’ve switched barrels and now have the barrel and reciever in white.
It appears that originally the lug might have had some brazing on it to hold it as it does not seem to be a press fit dovetail just parallel.
im concerned about brazing it back due to changing the temper of the reciever.
So I’m considering my options and I would like to hear some input.
I can install it and peen it, but I’m concerned about it working loose.
I can solder it with a silver solder only have to get it to about 550F.
I can put a small spot of TIG weld on it on either side, but there is some localized crystallization that will happen be cause of that.
Any options I’m missing or thoughts and suggestions are welcome.
Not an valuable gun but I’d like to do it to my best ability.

Is the barrel indexing properly to the receiver when bottomed out? If so, torque hell out of it with thread lock and stick a fork in it. (Call it done) if it isn’t indexed that’s another matter.

So I used some electrical silver solder to secure the lug and it seemed like with the proper flux it pulled in to the joint well and is sturdy.

The barrel was able to get indexed correctly finally. Had to file the barrel face just slightly to get it clocked right. Now I have to check head space.
