Pregnant woman shot after fight (link)
Indianapolis - Metro police are investigating the shooting of a pregnant woman.
Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Draper Street around 5:30 pm Monday. When they arrived, they found 19-year-old Ashely Johnson, who is three months pregnant, shot in the hand. She was transported to Methodist Hospital in stable condition for treatment.
Police on the scene also say a crowd gathered at the scene and became unruly. Several people were detained for disorderly conduct, and one woman was handcuffed and placed in the jail transport wagon.
Police say the altercation started Sunday as a dispute between people from nearby streets.
Earlier in the evening, a group of juvenile females tried to continue the dispute, but were talked down by an adult, who later had to leave for work. When she left, the females returned and got into a fight with some juveniles living on Draper Street.
During the fight, Terry Yeggar, an 18-year-old male, pulled out a gun and fired it into the air. Shortly thereafter, Destiny Willboughy, a 19-year-old female from the Draper St. address, grabbed the gun and fired it down the street, striking Johnson in the hand.
After that shot was fired, two teenage females began smashing car windows in a driveway of that house, before smashing out some of the windows. They then went inside the house and began smashing things inside until an adult male at the home was able to get them out of the house, after which the fighting continued until police arrived.
Police believe the shooting victim's brother and sister may be involved in the altercation somehow. They are still interviewing the juveniles involved.
Yeggar, Willboughy, the two teen females and another juvenile female were arrested and face charges in the case.
