I am looking at buying some extra magazines for a G19X and am curious why you would choose the 10 round magazine. Standard is 17 round, and it looks like the 10 round could be no shorter, so what would be the reason to choose a 10 round? I may be misunderstanding some basic difference as well...thanks for your thoughts in advance!

There is no reason to choose a 10 rounder over a standard capacity.

I’ve heard of some people buying 10 rounders in advance of some sort of pending legislation, but I fail to see the logic.

Agreed, I'm not self imposing a limit based on some potential legislation. During the AWB decade, those grandfathered mags became very valuable.

For the OP's info, there are some states that limit to 10 rounds, some 15, and of course then there are free states.

Sorry, I can’t tell if that is sarcasm or not...I think so though :)
Purple is used to indicate sarcasm on the forum.

If interested in visiting one of those states, you'll likely be able to buy a ten round mag later. I'm buying 10 rounders for visiting my less fortunate family member in such states.

In competition shooting, some divisions require 10 rd mags, I think, so that all people start from the same playing field since some states only allow 10 rd mags.

No reference to the OP'S Glock or any other handgun.
I buy 10 rounders for my rifles for range use. I see no reason FOR ME to puke 30 or more rounds out of a mag at a time.
I have old hands with busted up fingers, loading 30 rounders hurts my vag.
10 rounders are less intrusive when shooting on a bench or prone.
Lastly, if our newly, not elected leader and his band of merry retards pulls a mag restriction on us, I'm not gonna be in that line to buy them no more than I'm in a line to buy ammo now.
For now, home protection and CC, I run my regular mags, when I'm wasting lead, I prefer my 10 rounders. JMO
